Here’s a fun thing, since you’ve decided the split the Competitive Points into Comp & Legacy.
How about we keep Gold Guns and the next variant they bring into OW2 being able to be bought with Competitive Points, and then we make Jade variants purchaseable with Legacy Credits?
Then, this stupid system somewhat works! AND! You don’t need to get rid of Jade variants!!!
But then how would we instill FOMO?
People that play comp want to gatekeep these rewards from non comp players. They’ll never be available for any other currency but what you get for slogging through that horrible mode.
Meanwhile, my 90,000 legacy credits sit with nothing ever to use them on except when new heroes release and I get all the base hero gallery items.
Yeah, honestly the current system only works if you play a ridiculous amount. For people who have a life outside of Overwatch this just makes me care less about the weapon variants in general.
That is the plan from what I understand. The green weapons are going to cost legacy credits when the next weapon color is released.
It makes sense once you accept that the point is to make people play more and not to reward people or give them variety.

All I want is to get another gold weapon, but I can´t cause half of my points are legacy.
Having to wait a whole year just to be able to buy them is already a pretty good incentive to play during their active year. By the time you get access to them, they’ll be old news and the new variant will be in high demand.

They did say this when Jade weapons were introduced, to be fair.
Also, Jade weapons are ugly as sin, so good riddance.

Yeah I don’t know why they decided to pick one of the worst colors out there. Surely they must know diamond weapons have been highly requested for years?
Or, hear me out, just add different colours whenever they are ready and let us buy them using standard comp points that we spend so much time getting, instead of this seasonal BS.
The only Jade weapon worth anything is the Hammer of Honor. As long as you play around three matches a week, you will probably make it before the end of the year. I have no clue because I did not verify that with any math.
Why would you get rewards for playing the casual version of the game tho
Originally Jeff Kaplan was against the gold weapons. He didn’t think comp should have any rewards tied to it because in his mind that ruined the competitive integrity of the mode. He only wanted people playing comp to rank up not to get something shiny. The rewards attract casuals to the mode.
I think that getting a shiny new rank isn’t really any incentive to play comp at all, and cosmetic rewards make much more sense
i wasnt a fan of jade weapons so they didnt entice me at all 
I have a better idea. Combine legacy and regular comp points into one currency and let people just buy whatever tf they want. What is this moronic system we have?
Who genuinely gives af if people can buy the new comp weapon skin as soon as it drops? WHO CARES???
It’s not like the credits they got and saved up for weren’t earned they still had to play the game to get them lmfao. I have multiple accounts with like 2k+ comp points just sitting there in the legacy form for a year because I can’t buy anything with them until the comp points I have now turn into legacy and that’s IF I even have any comp points to turn into legacy. If I have 2.6k legacy and only 200 current comp points when the switch happens, then that means I’ll have to wait ANOTHER full year til I can buy something with them.
The system has genuinely zero thought put into it.
How 'bout no. I want my legacy points to be worth something, not credits for jade.
I have 2k something legacy competitive points and I just maxed out my Jade competitive points; when the jade comp points roll over to legacy points, will I only be able to hold 6k? I got the jade skin for Lucio but, really can’t see myself using them on anyone else.
