Why are alt accounts allowed again?

I mean, it is pretty easy to make a new account on console. It is.

But it also kinda proves that your gameplay dictates your rank too.

I had a friend who started us making all these different accounts. He had been playing since the beta on his one account and felt like he was stuck. Wanted a fresh account to play with our kinda clique we found and all played together.

It placed a little higher at first… then he played on it more… and kept falling down to where is main was.

Then he did it again… and again… he’s do his original placements with me around 2500… get placed there… then would fall back down to 2200.

He now has like 5 accounts… 4 all below level 100… all ranked within 200 SR of each other… playing the same heroes.

My experience is that unless you are playing drastically different heroes at drastically different skill levels… the system will find you to be in the same spot… because you are playing the same way… with the same tendancies… on each of the accounts.

The problem with those is that in custom games, you don’t get players often enough to take those games seriously (enough), Quick Play has zero structure, and training room is just aiming. There’s a difference between training and real life practice.

What needs to be done is something to incentivize playing “seriously” in Quick Play so that players can really practice. It would reduce smurfing and it’d help.

If you practice other characters on your main account you will get banned for throwing

Im no pro widow but in silver its easy. everyone peeks allot of easy shots

I disagree. I’m usually in masters but have peaked in GM/top 500 and I made a second account to practice Tracer on and I ended up in low diamond/high plat.

It’s not a smurf because I can’t play dps beyond that rank.

I also switched to pc recently and placed plat. I’m still not a smurf because my actual skill level with a KB+M is on par with people in plat. I can’t even play dps at that rank. I’m terrible.

I just don’t have the gamesense needed to play dps at my rank. With healers and tanks I have spots I like to be at and things to look out for but I haven’t developed them for dps yet.

Having multiple accounts around the SR isnt an issue. What is seen as an issue (depending on who you ask) is having accounts 1000+ Sr apart.

If you got a platinum account that you play support on I dont care if you have a gold account for learning dps.

Some people out there I have come across are like well I dont care if I lose here cause this is my alternate account anyway.

Some people will have a silver account to blow off some steam when they are losing in diamond plus to help themselves feel better on genji and wrecking low elo

Some people use alternate accounts to boost players into brackets they cant handle by themselves

I can assure you that high silver has quite the smurfing problem as of late. The lopsided games as of late are just too far common and you often have someone named “tracer” “potato” Genji that are playing WAY out of their leagues.

Silver tracers dont spend practically whole games on fire one clipping people. Meanwhile everyone else is missing stationary turrets.

The skill variance in silver as of late is just beyond absurd. The boosting also is getting out of hand.

i am mid masters when i only play sym but on my alt where i dont let my self play sym, i am low gold/silver.

This is because of only being able to play one hero well, if i played other heros on my main i would be throwing games

Deserves silver… ? if someone gets to level 1k consistently playing ranked then they’re a silver player.
I don’t think anyone should be banned for having secondary or alt accounts, so long as they are not purposely staying in low ranks.
It is also still extremely hard to tell if someone is on an alternate account or not.

Guys, the problem is not making different accounts for different heroes.

Some Tracer who by herself wrecks the enemy team shouldn’t be in bronze. If it was an ALT account it would place higher.

But the fact is that there are people inflating their egos at noob’s expenses and that should have punishment.

I saw lots of examples of people deliberately “playing with their feet” to place in bronze and then have a ball. It’s all fun and games for 1 and a waste of time for 11.

Sorry, but you are talking about hours and hours of playing 8hrs i believe to lvl to 25.

Then several more hours 3 or so to lose all 10 games horrifically (which will be hard to do when you’ll be placed with other bad players who won’t know what the point was if hey accidentally stood on it)

Then you have a few more bout 20 or so games you’d have to play extremely poorly to keep your MMR from drastically increasing as soon as you started to pub stomping.

All for a couple hours of pub stomping?

Nah.

You nail them for account sharing, because THAT is most likely the case.

It is boosting and against TOS.

Everything else is someone that put in way too much effort and time to be such a small population that it isn’t worth setting up a system to catch them. Let’s get real.

it’s cuz they can’t stop them, there’s no way to police it. 20% + is alt accounts. investors would pull out.

Investors would pull out?

Blizzard make pretty much all their profit from lootboxes, they couldn’t care less about a couple of additional game sales.

Just this last game I had, there was a group of three, they had 2 or 3 stars on the portrait each, and they went the whole game charging at the cp without firing.

The Rein didn’t even put up his shield.

When suggested throwing, one asked “What is throwing?”.

C’mon… Apparently some people take their time to get into bronze. It’s bad when they lose on purpose and when they solo stomp.

Usually when a high SR player makes a new account, it puts them at a high SR after their initial placements - assuming they didn’t troll for levels 1-25. You won’t see a genuine grandmaster player playing gold unless it’s a booster or someone who threw hard while leveling. GM players aren’t going to get much practice against gold level players due to the huge skill gap.

How doesn’t an Australian know the context of how “mate” is used?
Even Junkrat uses mate do you think he says it with sincerity?

Of course I know. That person is just a troll and I don’t tolerate trolls.

Now can we stop talking about this troll and and keep the thread on the OP’s original topic, please?

Mate I’ve read the whole forums and i disagree, he isn’t a troll.
Harsh truth is you can’t stop someone buying multiple accounts, yeah console needs to stop the free account creation and make it same as PC but smurfs are not going away entirely nor will they ever.

Just because I disagree you insult my intelligence and ability to read, just like you insulted him when he disagreed with you.

I can read your frustration, I can see no one in this forum disagrees with blizzard should restrict accounts on console, maybe it’s a XBL or PSN issue and it seems you just want people to confirm your biases without taking your emotion out of the equation and looking at the discussion constructively.

Take the challenge life is full of challenges and overcoming hardship is what makes victory so sweet.

You clearly missed their posts where they belittled me, insulted me, swore at me, etc.

But again, enough about the troll. This thread has been derailed enough, don’t you think?
