Why does it feel like Blizzard makes all the heroes that are subjectively fun to play for me are the troll picks in Masters and above? I try playing heroes that are ‘meta’ and they just feel really boring and uneventful to play. I try to play who I’m best on and it’s a 60% win - 40% loss
Junkrat? Naw, his grenades don’t even register
Soldier? Literally every hitscan is better
Doomfist? Good luck, half this abilities don’t register.
Pharah? You’ll just get shot out of the sky
Roadhog? He’s only good with Orisa, most tanks are better
Orisa? Same as Roadhog
Symmetra? You probably can’t stay alive longer than 60 seconds.
Bastion? LOL
Or maybe it’s just the other way around, all the heroes that are bad have something in common and that’s what makes the more enjoyable. I just hope at least one of them won’t be terrible some day
I’ve tried Genji and Tracer, but they just don’t feel fun at all. You’re constant tryhard sweating on Tracer trying not to get killed, and Genji is only good if you main him and only him
Because fun is ‘subjective’ and everyone knows that once you hit Diamond, forget about picking what you want. Everyone in Diamond I have seen only wants to WINWINWIN.
You gotta have specific stats or forget about it, you’ll get kicked from every group you try to join. If you main anything, you have to have top500 level stats or else they’ll basically become toxic the moment you flub up once.
Basically? Diamond and higher sucks. Winning is great and don’t get me wrong, I WANT to win, but I shouldn’t have to play by specific rules because someone’s gonna get their jimmy’s in a twist if you mess up even once or don’t ‘meet the standards’.
Trolling is what you do as the pick. If you’re a damn good bastion, play bastion. Same goes for reeper, symmetro, oresa, solder, junkyboy, and deathfist.
Because, as much as no one likes to admit it, Blizzard doesn’t know what the hell they’re doing. They follow trends and try their best to “influence” a trend, but if there is immediate pushback, they don’t go anywhere near whatever they had in mind.
And now that they’re basically just Activision, it’ll continue looking a lot more like this. Jeffy is already showing how much he has aged since this game came out almost 3 years ago. The stress must be horrible over there. He looks like a 2 term US president already in only a few years from when he first appeared in 2016 talking about Overwatch.
Junkrat is really good and Soldier is decent its just that other hitscan are better.
Roadhog will always be good cuz he just gets kills.
Symmetra is actually really op especially in masters
Junkrat: never experienced this issue… however i don’t play him enough
Soldier: He’s an all rounder who does a bit of everything… Sure other hitscan picks are more specialised, but sometimes you just need something stable to fall back on.
Doomfist: he’s scary when he knows what he’s doing, and when to do it.
Pharah: Needs good aim, and sneaky tactics… Valkia is someone you can watch to pick up tips.
Roadhog: He’s pretty good if you can consistently get hooks/picks. However the goats comp have a lot of lifesaving abilities to prevent that.
Orisa: Still decent. Have you seen the Anti Goats Comp involving Bastion/Orisa/Sym?
Symmetra+Bastion: See above Orisa.
There’s a difference between playing for fun and playing to win. The more you optimize for winning plays, the more you have to “trim the fat” so to speak.
I’m having fun playing Sombra, and my decision trees reflect that. Preferring plays that are more… interesting… than for actual impact. (You do NOT want me on your team in comp). The disregard for wins means i can get into Sombras rhythm and stay in there for pretty much the whole game.
Go to Fitzyhere and you’ll find that he can’t actually get “Into the zone” because he has to keep stopping to synchronize with his team. He has to win to stay in the top 500 even if that meant sacrificing his personal performance.
Then go to the pros, where Sombra is played so safely, that she’s barely being used for engagements and her translocator is being dropped at spawn. Even Fitzy commented at how safe they are (bordering on paranoid) when he used the viewer client to follow pro Sombras.
“Strong” or “Meta” heroes are the heroes who’s “In the zone” / “Play for fun” also happens to be the way to win games. As the meta changes to favor certain playstyles, a hero can become meta, off meta or troll even with no changes to their kit.
I didn’t say it was his problem. What I meant by my inclusion of his name is that things are not going too well over there in the studio. Just in one year - do the comparison with various videos of him - he has aged tremendously. That’s why I said it must be hell right now… which is usually not a sign of things going well, be that balances or new partnerships (such as the LEGO one) or future plans.
