Why an ELO Ranking System, when there is a performance based tracker in the game?

Only other explenation is after placement sr bonus. Is account new? If not it is your performance.

“I SAID DIE ON POINT!!!” licks lips in anticipation of sweet sweet Rez SR

Medals means absolutely nothing. Mostly all your stats per 10 actually counts. Unless it’s a new account you are underperforming a lot.

Because when they do get to the next rank, there’s absolutely no reason to believe they’ll suddenly be inclined to work with their teams to win when you literally just rewarded them for playing for themselves, even on a loss.

This is why wins and losses need to remain the biggest factor in whether you gain or lose SR. Because once you make the outcome negligible, people aren’t going to suddenly start caring about it once they hit a specific rank.

Medals are only relevant to your current team, whereas SR is relevant to your entire rank.

If your team gets only 2 kills, you getting 4 and landing a gold medal does not suddenly mean you belong 3 ranks ahead, you’re still playing poorly relative to your average player at your rank.

you just tone down the pbsr the higher they climb. being militant about demanding low elo learn mechanics and carry games does nothing for the game imo. it just makes low elos a mess and actually a very unproductive environment to learn and develop.

It does when the mode in question is competitive

Yea…

The whole point of a ladder system is to get better as you go up.

Insisting that players shouldn’t have to “learn mechanics” to rank up sorta completely defeats the purpose. And yes, team skills are still skills that players need to learn as they go.

Also no, you don’t need to be a hard carry to rank up. Hard carrying makes it easier, but it’s not required. You’re upset about ranking up being “a grind” but remember, the point of competitive isn’t to max out your rank. 99% of us are never going to be GM, ever, because generally speaking the system’s based on community skill. I understand the desire to improve but you’re not supposed to be “grinding” out anything in the first place.

I grind out arena rating in WoW, that’s competitive, RBGS are competitive. I got from 0 to 2K+ which is a grind, usually with 50-50 win-loss but you still move up. The problem with Overwatch it’s just not a simple win-loss there are other things in play, and nothing is ever consistent.

No one joins those games to not give a s*** and lose on purpose.

To get you to play more games. Monthly Active Users is the metric for board meetings and such.

You just described OW. If you’re outperforming your rank you’ll climb even with a 50-50 due to PBSR. The exact thing you want, or at least what you say is so nice about the other games.

Nope, nowhere near the same. Also, I am only relying on one or two other people. Not five others…

But you didnt pass 3k.

That’s the point I’m trying to make. You don’t deserve a higher rank just because you put time in to “grind it out” because that’s not a ranking anymore, just exp. You’re not meant to hit the top of the board just because you decided to no life something, you need to actually be good enough to earn it, which means being better than everyone from here to there, which 99.9% simply aren’t and never will be.

As was pointed out, this still can apply to Overwatch if you’re good enough. You simply aren’t, which is nothing to be ashamed of.

Yes, such as your performance.

At this point you might as well say you’re sad you cant climb easily when you get carried.

Another private giving advice… lol

lmao nice one you really got me xd

The fact that you’re trying to snoop on my profile to judge my argument just shows that you have no counter argument of your own and have to result to petty insults to make you feel like you’re right.

Ironically, that’s also exactly why I keep it private.

I mean this dude is gold / plat, other account is high plat diamond. I am not afraid to post on either this account is on private because I have not switched it yet, Blizzard decided to hide it because their game is dying and you can not get analytics on it if half the game has private profiles which is why they did it in the first place.

But people who are in bronze and silver telling me how its my fault, do not play the game at a real level.

And in WoW I have been Hero and GM 2600+ in past, so not sure what you were talking about there.

You hide your profile because your rank proves that you should not be providing any insight into the game, when a rank 500 comes in here and tells me I am wrong I will shut up.

You resort to ranks because your insights cannot stand on their own, so you resort to gate keeping your arguments instead of actually trying to counter the point. Almost like you can’t.

Like hell you would. A lot of top 500 and gm players kept their profiles private because they either didn’t care or realized that 90% of this community is toxic beyond redemption. They could prove you wrong as much as anyone else and all you’d say is “lol probably silver”. A true sign of a narrow minded player.

What do I need to counter?

The game is flawed, the ranking system is defective, other games that use this type of system have reset ranks do to the system being inadequate, and it fixes a broken system (for the season), and usually has to be reset every season after that, as it is flawed.

What question would you like to me to counter? Playing at bronze and silver is much different than playing in a high-plat diamond.

Gatekeeping, I would say I am an above-average player, at least looking at the data Gold is 32%, Plat is 25%, and Diamond is 10%.

Your opinion is your opinion; I would like the view of high ranking players, not people who run around in the lowest brackets.

All of your points are random opinions not based on any facts.

Yet, you still won’t tell me your rank.

“Anyone who disagrees with me must be worse than me, therefore I am right by default.”

lmao Good one mate. If it helps you sleep at night.

Because it’s genuinely entertaining to watch you try and high horse me just because you have no other options.

As are yours. The more you treat everyone else like inferiors, the less you’ll actually convince people that you’re right, or even worth listening to.
