I’m a west coast player and lately in like this week I have been getting put into gtk1 server. Now it is happening like every other game. Constant 120ms ping. What is the deal?

Ya another west coast player here stuck on gtk1. When I select southwest in a custom game lobby it says it’s not available 
yeah US servers seem to be broken. Im in the northeast and I keep getting put on europe and brazil servers

i play on Ord1 and I got thrown onto a bunch of Euro Servers. Not a good deal.
You finally feel the struggle us aussies being put in singapore servers have been feeling for a good 6+ years now.
It sucks.
Actiblizz has a patent that talks about putting players in far out servers to keep queue times low. Its most likely this. There may be much less players in your area so it looks for the nearest server with enough players to keep your queues low.

First world problems.
I was born in Perú and for that reason I play 99% of online AAA games with +120 ping.
Valve is the only game company I know that has servers in our capital (Lima) and we can play their games with 20/40 ping.
Interesting! No wonder I used to get random Chinese and Korean players in my games! (Im in the PNW).
im curious how you know what server your on as ive played this game or years and never knew of such a thing i jsut monitor the latency and IND

ctrl+shift+N should bring up the server in the top left. Within 4 games I have been sent to ams1, ord 1, and gen and I am in the midwest US.

i forgot about that but i wasnt aware that also said which server ya was on i get out of suspension on february 8th or 9th if i notice abnormal ping i will check that

Makes so much sense. Some games I play are so glitchy, Im probably in a server half-away around the world. I know OW2 is an international game, but damn. Maybe too far some times!

You hit
[ Ctrl+shift+n ] at the same time and the net graph will pop. At the top, you should see the server name and your ping.
Like yesterday i kept getting in gen1, which is apparently located in Finland… I’m from East US.
I genuinely do not know how people can stand playing with such high ping. 150-160 ping is annoying in qp, competitive felt absolutely unplayable with how fast this game is in general.

Yeah getting AMS1 and LAS1 is really bad lately for me.
What really burns me is they switched to addressing it all as IPV6 address ranges. So it makes blocking ranges even worse to deal with. Otherwise I would just block anything Overwatch opening up to stuff outside of my region.

I just got a Korean server. The enemy team had mostly Korean battletags. Holy Jamolies! One of the Worst connections Ive ever had in a game. I thought my mouse or thumbstick was malfunctioning cause every time I tried to move forward, the connection/game will pull me back. Like some kind of digital prison! It was completely unplayable. Very bizarre movement restrictions.
Next time, Im gonna do that key macro to find out the server.
