Before we get started, I came from CS and committed to McCree and Widow pretty much straight away once I got my bearings in game so you can’t call me out for playing no aims.
Now that its out of the way, I really don’t understand the new wave of hate for no-aimers like Moira and Brigitte. This game was never going to be a dedicated aim = everything style of game and the hitboxes/hitmodels prove that. This is by far the most forgiving competitive game I’ve played in a while and claiming that you are superior for being good at aiming alone is, quite frankly, stupid. Seriously, shouldn’t this kind of criticism be more focused towards the developers who are leaving high mechanical aim based characters outside of the update cycle?
The hate typically comes from heavily aim based heroes, like e.g. Widowmaker, which are frequently being outplayed by let’s say a Winston, and therefore rendered completely useless.
They think that’s it unfair to get outplayed by such heroes. What they don’t get is, that if they are being outplayed by a Winston, that they are adding not much value to the team at all, that their positioning and game awareness just sucks and they definitely should get much better. So basically by e.g. hating Winston they do admit that they suck at certain points of the game.
There are some aim intensive heroes in the game such as Ana who gets out performed by Moira who does not need to aim. I think that’s not fair.
Traditionally First Person Shooter games are always about aim and nothing else, Overwatch however, is not such a game. So people crying and whining about no-aim on the pretense that aim is the only important skill in the game are doing it because of their view of First Person Shooter games
Ana needs a buff, no question. But Moria isn’t exactly broken.
So the hitboxes in this game are already more generous than in other games, and on top of that, you also get no aim heroes?!
That kind of proves the point, doesn’t it?
The game is fps at its root even if it’s not meant to be as aim-intensive as CS or other games. No aim heroes will always be hated because it feels fundamentally unfair.
How can you not hate the fact that you spend a stupid amount of time practicing your favorite hero to get good, only to get owned by an overpowered easy hero, that everybody (including) you can master to more or less the same level after an hour of getting used to the buttons?
If I can get better results with a less demanding hero, I’ll do that.
I just hope they don’t make her easy to play
Don’t think Moira is OP, but it’s true that an unskilled Moira can outheal a skilled Ana pretty easily, but that’s because Ana has been in need of buffs for a long time.
The first time I picked Moira and did 10k healing I was shocked. To get 10k healing with Ana you need to work very hard!
Coming from Quake and Unreal Tournament I beg to differ, especially in Quake a lot of the high ranked players will actually tell you that to some extent aim is overrated if you are good at controlling objectives.
When Ana was super meta in triple tank era, Mercy was still healing more per game than Ana at GM.
Now at GM Moira heals even more than Mercy. Assuming Ana needs buff at all, nothing will make her heal better than easy hero like Moira unless Blizzard starts to make Ana easy as well.
Ana was super meta, because her nano boost was way much better back then, and it’s quite easy to heal three slow moving tanks with big, big hitboxes compared to an Genji in the back line. And there were not so much shields around then, either. Not being able to heal through enemy shields while all other healers can is the major drawback of Ana.
How would you buff Ana exactly, without turning the game into world of tanks again?
A good Ana is already really scary, if left uncountered.
The only issue is that’s too easy, as her counters are not only strong, but easy to play.
I would start with giving her at least some form of reliable escape, I’m not looking to just buff her healing or anything like that, I just think she needs tools so she isn’t a free kill when she tries to heal her team from a distance.
Because some people still thinks because they are using aim based characters they are entitled to stomp any person that use a character that less aim based, and they go full tilt when the feel that they denied of that entitlement.
We need more no aim heroes and let the no aim haters cry and get out so this community can grow peacefully

Its not a true fps though, which they’ve said constantly. Its not fundamentally unfair to give a hero less aim than others when characters like Widow and McCree are powerful on paper.
The problem isn’t the no-aim heroes or the aim based heroes, the problem is a systematic one within the way Blizzard updates and patches their game. Instead of pumping out one massive update every month or so, this game would be much better balanced and the power creep would be much more evenly spread amongst the whole roster. The problem isn’t the roster but its how Blizzard has completely mismanaged it from day one.
Her kit is already fairly bloated though. Like her grenade does 4 different things. Unless they give her some sort of Hanzo rework space magic, that’s not an option.
On the other hand if you’d just nerf her counters numerically, you would remove lots of frustration from the game, making other aim based heroes better too.
