I’m thinking dps.
Making sure that if I die and not giving my team heals that it’s not my fault we lose.

Could even be the tanks’ job, too, but it shouldn’t be supports. They usually don’t have the damage to do it lol
If you have a Widow too then it’s generally their job to counter the enemy Widow. If you don’t have one or they’re not good enough then the tank needs to be putting a lot of pressure on them. They don’t necessarily have to kill the Widow, but making sure she can’t get shots on your team is important.
Thank god. Had to switch to Ana because no one is dealing with her.
The team. This is why I can see the argument a sniper like widow doesn’t belong in this game (NOT SAYING I AGREE BUT I DO SEE HOW THIS OPINION HAS EVIDENCE BEHIND IT) widow is one of a very short list of heroes your entire team has to play around differently to shut down. Her 1 shot capabilities are too potent to ignore even with chumps they will hit the lucky headshot and win the fight with that pick eventually.
In reality though we aren’t all owl teams. So normally any dive esc hero will jump on them while the rest of the team helps apply damage when they can from range.
That’s frustrating. I had a game earlier where I had to do that. Thankfully the Widow wasn’t that good so I ended up killing her 3 times until we got to a point in Route 66 where she kept having high ground advantage lol
So we just forget objective waste time on the sniper?
We can…but who’s watching the team? Who’s taking space?
Yeah getting rid a sniper allows more room to be taking space.
Where do the defensive abilities go? Usually where the dive is happening.
Where do they need to be? Directing or indeirecting aiding your team. Using it for specifically one enemy out of the desired direction is bad.
The answer is anyone who can get her. Like im not gonna get mad at my 76 who’s pinned down but dumping rounds at other people for not helping with widow, he’s out of her sight its cool.
Key to beating her is knowing sightlines, where she can see you and where she cant. plus she’s vulnerable to being dived. I’m a fan of bullying widows as lucio personally.
I’m not saying that’s the optimal way to do it. It’s totally not, it should be the DPS or Tank who deals with them since they have a better kit to deal with them and get back to the fight/objective faster.
But man, when my team is just getting decked by Widow and aren’t even trying to shoot at her, I gotta. It’s the only thing that gives us a chance. And once she’s retreating, I go back to supporting my team.
The best thing to do since theres four other guns is to deny those headshot. Deathball and have a shield to advance.
By having more cover you can play the objective which us the entire point.
Tank and dps. Kiriko/zenyatta can take out widow occasionally too, but it should be a last resort for supports to contest the widow. Because supports dead = no healer. They should be focusing on staying alive most of the time, rather than taking risks like DPS.
Loaded question.
In OW1 there were multiple decent options. it used to be the off-tank who would go DVA, Winston, or Hammond and you still had your main tank to protect your squishes. Or you could have a DPS swap to Sombra, Widow, or any other counter. In OW2 your only hope is a sniper diff in your favor or one of your DPS can engage her.
Before role queue you could swap to tank to counter widow
I miss those days.
I used to swap roles since I knew what to do to give her a hard time and take care of it. But now when I’m on support, I just have to hope our tank is open to swapping or our DPS are.
Tanks cannot engage unless the entire team can dive with them. Likely Diving Solo results in tank being killed or the enemy steam rolling your allies as there is no one to stop their tank from advancing.
Supports have neither the time or the DPS to out snipe the sniper. Maybe they get a lucky shot or two but just using numbers, the Supports are likely to get killed.
That just leaves the Damage class. They can have the range and 1 tap potential. Some can even pursue with their mobility and abilities. If one breaks formation or focuses the sniper, the team can still hold ground.
Just go lucio. 9/10 times widow will swap
In comp it’s a toss-up, though. My Lucio might be Gold/Plat and their Widow could be Diamond/Masters.
Learn to play lucio then😅. Or just remember the sightlines and pray your teammates get rid of her. Also you could ask your 2nd support, mb he can play lucio
I would, but generally he’s not good enough to try to bust out for the Widow.
Usually the strat is to have your own Widow. She can do it better and faster, and it isn’t utilizing one of your supports to do it. Usually the tank or DPS go in so we don’t risk losing a support.
Hes annoying enough when jumps on her head 24/7 to make her swap.
