It has been ages since soldier was meta. In fact, I honestly forgot he existed. The question is, who could get mad at this? He’s not very high skill but not low skill as he needs aiming. He has self healing, but it’s counterable. None of his abilities are oppressive… He is supposed to be the character that kills you without you thinking “wow, that guy is so broken, how is he allowed?”

Frankly, if he’s meta, cool. I don’t care who’s meta, as long as other characters are still playable into it. But normally, characters become meta not because they do something really well. They become meta because they disable other things really well.
The forum gets mad at everything that succeeds to kill 'em more than once… so yes, people would be mad.

Soldier 76, McCree, and Ashe are heroes who will never be a meta. They are just good picks for certain situations or counter/flexing.
Soldier was meta once, long ago. He doesn’t really have a niche now because he just isn’t good in thie meta. McCree does huge damage at every range. I think even ashe is a better pick than soldier now
It won’t be the character itself that people would be mad at, it would be the adjustments that led him to be meta that would.
it doesn’t matter who is meta, so long as dps are usable, the people on these forums will complain whoever is decent is overpowered.

so long as dps are usable in any way shape or form, the forums will whine, because they don’t understand that the purpose of a dps, is to be able to kill

Then again, people will ALWAYS complain. I don’t think it’s something Blizz should factor in when balancing.

Wait until Ashe becomes meta. It will happen as soon as Moira gets nerfed because of the synergy of Ana’s nade and Ashe’s dynamite.
