I was wondering this for awhile now because a lot of heroes counter one hero or another but with lifeweaver it feels like he’s not a counter to anyone. He feels like mercy but with a tank hitbox and hanzo’s lunge instead of guardian angel
Life Grip counters just about everything except ranged 1shots. This is probably a big reason he sucks so bad, they were afraid of his universal, uncounterable utility and just sorta forgot it can’t actually make plays.
If any one specific, probably Reinhardt.
Petal Platform can be used to easily escape him before he can reach you, and allows your teammates to play around high grounds they normally may not be able to easily access, which is a pain to deal with as Rein.
Tree can pretty much nullify Shatter as long as you don’t get hit by it yourself. The initial burst does more healing than Shatter does damage, blocks LOS from the Rein’s team, and if you’re fast enough you can probably block the Rein’s Firestrike/charge.
Yoink people out of Charge.
Orisa for one. She is about to twirl/spear throw an ally off a map? Pull.
She’s going to ult? Lift her or plant a tree, rendering her Ult useless.
He’s a bit of a Jack-of-all-trades, master of none type hero. So he can be utilized in many situations.

Orisa is the most obvious one, tracer ultis, mag nade.
Other common ones are mei,sig,zarya ultis.
Some map specific ones like gripping ppl who got booped off maps
he has potential in a lot of situations. Though it also can go both ways if you save just one team mate it might stagger the regroup if you die later.
I would say his best use is vs Zarya Grav, the platform gets your team out of it pretty well. Life Grip has a lot of potential to mess with enemies, as long as they are targeting one person. Genji for instance denied a kill to reset his dash might just waste most his blade after that failure.
It is very luck/situational based though. But Lifeweaver is hardly the first hero to not hard counter any one.

He counters:
Hog: He can pull teammates who have been hooked
Rein: He can pull teammates who have been charged as well as platform them from out of mele range
Orisa: He can platform her Ult so she hits no one
Junkrat: He can platform teammates from the Tire
Ashe: He can platform Bob into the Air where he cant shoot down
Mei: He can platform her Ult as well as place his Tree on top of it to block full LOS.

Melee heroes- Brin and Rein and Doom but definitely a soft counter.
Ultimate wise he wrecks Zarya and Orisa.
You can platform the team out of Grav, freeing them up to move which makes him REAL good vs Zarya as well.
