Who are the best characters to Nano boost?

ive been playing ana a lot on console and ive always had a problem deciding who to boost, so who is?

Winston is good because auto aim and the health pool in low ranks for me. You mostly want to use nano for farming friendly ults or sustaining tanks in a fight. Ult combo-ing isn’t useful anymore. Soldier can’t headshot in Visor so nano-visor isn’t great. Nano-blade isn’t great either. You only need a Mercy damage boost or discord for Blade to kill through transc.

Genji, Doomfist, Tracer, even things like Sombra if they are going in. You want to make it easy for somebody to secure a kill quickly. Obviously you don’t want to nano somebody who can’t get on top of enemies, outside of rare cases of flanking Nanovisor (but who plays S76 nowadays?). Nano someone who can be on top of enemies and hope it works.

Other use of nano is making your tank last a bit longer on the point. Any tank or Brigitte will do, if they are not nearly dead already.

BOOSTIOOOOOOOO!!!

…and Sombrero.

Perfectly honest, though, its just best to nano whomever you feel can do the best at the time. Normally, that’s characterd like Genji, Reinhardt, Winston, Soldier, etc, but sometimes less often picked targets for Nano, like Mei and Sombra, aren’t bad targets.

to add to this, Winston does more damage during Nanoboost when he is NOT ulting than when he is ulting. It’s best to nano Winston when he is not raging.

Rein.
When I play Ana with my Rein main, I make sure to tell him right before I do, I’ve watched him wipe an entire team. It’s terrifying and amazing!

Hanzo, his stormarrow dmg output is extreme.

Nanoboosting is good for Soldier, Genji, Bastion, Pharah, and Roadhog when ulting.

If you get a Symmetra on your team, nanoboost them and heal the eff out of them in a team fight— her snowball potential is disgusting.

Keep in mind and be prepared Mercy can and will block your nano like half the time

Carry heroes (if you trust them): Ulting Genji, Tracer, Ulting Soldier, McCree
AutoAim/ Melee heroes (for reliable value): Winston, Swinging Rein, Brig, Dva, sym
Saving: give nano to ally in danger for the resistance like a zen who is stuck with pulsebomb

Soldier, McCree, and Hanzo all do good damage even when not ulting. Boosting Winston and Rein is a good way to increase their survivability if you’re going for a push as well, although I think Winston is better than Rein just because he has mobility to catch and hunt down squishies.

Personally, I think that nano Winston is only ever valuable if he can kill Mercy. Otherwise, it’s probably a waste of time.

Genji, Hanzo, Soldier, McCree, Bastion, Torb, Reinhardt, Zarya, Roadhog and Winston.

One time I nanoboosted a Winston who proceeded to leap and land in 3 enemies with a combo punch, and then evaporated them like in the Recall cinematic and when the nanoboost effect was over, THEN he popped his ult and harrassed the Mercy right off the ledge.

A good Winston is scary. A good Winston under the effects of nanoboost is freakin horrifying. The power of science!

Symmetra is effective if you know someone who is good on her.

Discord Orb and Hanzo holding left click now dumpster even 200 IQ scientists. If they manage to get close anyway, Brigitte shows them the power of Blizzard’s balance.

When a charged symm got nano boosted everyone will run away from her like crazy! Thats how scary she is when nanoboosted.

Nanoboosted sym with speedboost is horrifying.

thank you all for the great replies!

Obviously from replies here there are many philosophies, but it all comes down to your own style. I myself boost targets that are diving in, especially tanks, and sometimes DPS ultimates. It can be used to save people too. Saving your fellow support sometimes might be better than boosting a damage dealer. Just do what you think feels right. I think nanos are wasted more in moments than on heroes.
