White box on left of screen when LMB

im in the same situation as you and looked around. theres some tips in this threat

and theres some in this on reddit

but ive tried all of them and none work for me.
basically the guide from overwatch is “make nvidia turn it off” and the guide from nvidia is “make the games you play turn it off”.

best advice i can give you is put a postit note on the side of your screen to not get distracted and hope it gets fixed in the future :frowning:

Yeah unless I have a g sync monitor or top end graphics card I cannot download the new driver. The drivers for my 1060 are all up to date. I’ve never enabled this feature ever and now it’s just turned itself on and now there’s no way for me to turn it back off. This needs to be addressed because I can’t play with that white square flickering all the time it’s far too distracting. There’s no way for me to turn it off in the overlay as there’s no option for the flash indicator and no option within nvidia control panel either…

i am in the same boat, they really screwed over players with older gear.

not entirely bliz fault though. Nvidia is also partly to blame. If you run win10 you can potentially get it working through the 3.25 version of experience which isnt available in win7.

but besides that it seems like you can only get it disabled by upgrading your gpu so that you can get a more recent driver version, that potentially can let you disable it as well.

My money is on the win10 though, which now effectively forces people to use win10 if you have a 5+year old system.

-on a sidenote 1060 should easily still fetch you 150-200fps (or 300+ in trainingroom) so in this regard there seems no reason to upgrade that whatsoever.

Driver 5.11 available to 1060 but not for win7 you should install win 10 then update driver and Geforce Experience

Driver 5.11 available to 1060 but not for win7 you should install win 10 then update driver and Geforce Experience

But doing that would be doing AND paying for something that shouldnt be required to play this game optimally though.

I understand, but this is the only solution to this problem.Either you do that or you don’t play.I also can’t play properly because of this problem.

This is ridiculous. Why is there now no option for us to disable this? I like the above posters still use Win 7 and have a gtx 980. Now youv’e removed the disable from overwatch options and I have no way to disable it. Great. And I never install geforce experience, I don’t want Nvidias bloat or telemetry on my computer.

Same here! I can’t turn it off even turning off the option in Reflex section…
I see the white square all time in all games.

I’m still using Win7 Home Premium. GTX 750 Ti.

C’mon, man, seriously?

Let’s hope!

Can confirm that there’s no way for me to disable to the flash indicator now on a 1050ti. White box shows up whenever I left click and I can’t disable it in the options nor anywhere in the nvidia control panel despite being on the latest drivers.

All posts merged into one, nice. Not even acknowledging theres a problem where you removed a feature that is now a gamebreaking bug - not so nice.

for anyone not following still, as of now theres these options you can pick from:

install win10
buy a high gpu
post it not on side of screen to block the small white box.

I doubt it was intentional that the two apps are working together to produce the white box. While Overwatch has Win7 as a minimum requirement, it looks like nVidia is moving on from supporting it. Blizzard can’t control that, but maybe they can do something to help — I’m not sure. I recommend posting in #bug-report to make developers aware of the issue. Tech Support staff isn’t a direct link to devs.

I’ve made a thread in Bug Report at the following:

I have windows 7, driver 472.12 (Nvidia 2060), installed using a complete cleaning via DDU, Geforce experience on the computer is COMPLETELY absent.

I don’t see any problems, try it. (Monitor BenQ Xl2546K)

Still cannot turn off flash indicator. Please remove it from the game. No one needs it or cares

Found something new.

  1. Check nvidia GEFORCE (instal if dont have) settings. [Alt +Z=>click Gear=> Performance monitoring> “Always show the Reflex flash indicator” — turn it off]

If cant find/dont help

  1. Try nvidia driver 472.12 version instead 473.04

Any official news on this issue? It’s really annoying… :expressionless:

this seems to be the workaround for now, for win7 users, so roll back the drivers, hf

Sorry, but for some reasons and another programs I’ll not change the drivers to older ones. This is an issue and must be fixed in a normal way, not doing something like in the early 2000’s to run a console emulator :expressionless:

You would want to ask nVidia to fix it, as they are the company that dropped support for Win7, not Blizzard.
