im in the same situation as you and looked around. theres some tips in this threat
and theres some in this on reddit
but ive tried all of them and none work for me.
basically the guide from overwatch is “make nvidia turn it off” and the guide from nvidia is “make the games you play turn it off”.
best advice i can give you is put a postit note on the side of your screen to not get distracted and hope it gets fixed in the future
Yeah unless I have a g sync monitor or top end graphics card I cannot download the new driver. The drivers for my 1060 are all up to date. I’ve never enabled this feature ever and now it’s just turned itself on and now there’s no way for me to turn it back off. This needs to be addressed because I can’t play with that white square flickering all the time it’s far too distracting. There’s no way for me to turn it off in the overlay as there’s no option for the flash indicator and no option within nvidia control panel either…
not entirely bliz fault though. Nvidia is also partly to blame. If you run win10 you can potentially get it working through the 3.25 version of experience which isnt available in win7.
but besides that it seems like you can only get it disabled by upgrading your gpu so that you can get a more recent driver version, that potentially can let you disable it as well.
My money is on the win10 though, which now effectively forces people to use win10 if you have a 5+year old system.
-on a sidenote 1060 should easily still fetch you 150-200fps (or 300+ in trainingroom) so in this regard there seems no reason to upgrade that whatsoever.
This is ridiculous. Why is there now no option for us to disable this? I like the above posters still use Win 7 and have a gtx 980. Now youv’e removed the disable from overwatch options and I have no way to disable it. Great. And I never install geforce experience, I don’t want Nvidias bloat or telemetry on my computer.
Can confirm that there’s no way for me to disable to the flash indicator now on a 1050ti. White box shows up whenever I left click and I can’t disable it in the options nor anywhere in the nvidia control panel despite being on the latest drivers.
I doubt it was intentional that the two apps are working together to produce the white box. While Overwatch has Win7 as a minimum requirement, it looks like nVidia is moving on from supporting it. Blizzard can’t control that, but maybe they can do something to help — I’m not sure. I recommend posting in #bug-report to make developers aware of the issue. Tech Support staff isn’t a direct link to devs.
Check nvidia GEFORCE (instal if dont have) settings. [Alt +Z=>click Gear=> Performance monitoring> “Always show the Reflex flash indicator” — turn it off]
Sorry, but for some reasons and another programs I’ll not change the drivers to older ones. This is an issue and must be fixed in a normal way, not doing something like in the early 2000’s to run a console emulator
