Which role is the most important?

Just like the title says which role is the most important to have on a team?

Personally i think tanks, supports are important too but to me tank are just as important. They show leadership to your team and encourages teamwork.

Healers to me would be the second most important to me, they have one of the hardest job which is to heal EVERYONE which can be hard, you must be on top of everything as a healer

But this is just my opinion.

Tanks definitely

I mean, tanks dictate the rest of the comp. If you’re running dive tanks, there are some DPS and Support characters you simply can’t run or you’ll lose. Anchor tanks make other DPS characters have more space to play as well. You can argue that the supports are more important on that situation because if you don’t have the right healers, you can’t have the right tanks, but I think the tanks choice should dictate the rest.

Every role is very important however I’d put tanks as most important. They create the required space for every other class to do their job properly.

DPS is not needed, running TT with Hog and Triple Support with Zen would work

Tanks for sure.

Laughable that they are so weak.

Support in my opinion.

You can tank all the damage you want, however without heals… you can’t be too effective as you will constantly be a walking low hp hero.

Polite answer: every role is important.
Realistic full of feelings answer: your own role.

Support is the number one.
I have enough experience to win without Tank.

It’s funny to watch how 5 Supports beat 5 Tanks on GM/Top500 Rank at second round.

Oh, I thought you said roll.

DPS because as a tank and healer you will find it hard to get kills. If you have a really good dps but a bad tank and healer you can still win but if you have bad dps then tanks need to deal a lot of damage.

That logic is incredibly weak. If tanks are so weak, why are they so important? If they were as weak as people say, we won’t be forced to use them. They’d just pick a DPS hero instead. Winston and Dva can just flat out bully people in the game. Rein and Orisa’s shield invalidates entire hero’s kit. Roadhog does just as much damage as a DPS and still has a guranteed kill if done properly. Zarya can do insane damage while staying alive forever.

Is Symmetra a role ?

They are all equal because they all enable each other to do what they need to.

1a. Tanks - always necessary
1b. Healers - always necessary
3. DPS - not necessary in all circumstances.

Supports and Tanks. However, there’s a lot more support mains out there than tank mains.

I would say healers. Because if you don’t have one, but a tank… that one wouldn’t be able to play properly because of his large health pool. But i think Tanks and Healers share the first place of importance. DPSs are still in third (i don’t want to offend anyone by that).

Healer because I’ve rarely won a game with no healers and when I’m stuck filling tank or healing in a game with 5 dps, playing healer would be more beneficial to the team. The team needs a lot more coordination and has to dive in and kill everything before taking too much damage.

BUT, tanks are extremely important to keeping the team together and making space. Having no tank is also a slog for the healer since tanks have better peeling abilities compared to most dps.

No dps leads to very long slow fights where you have to rely on team whiling ults to get things done. Games like this can sometimes lead to the other team beating you with a support in my experience. Or maybe not, these games are rare with mixed success.

It’s possible to beat another team when you lack any one of the roles but usually it’s because you out skill the other team or have good teamwork compared to them.

To be honest, all of them. The team that wins is the one that cooperates with each other the most. There isn’t a ‘this x person only carries’ ( unless there is a GM smurfing on Genji/Tracer playing in Gold/Platinum, I hate those guys ).

Tanks who know how to escort and contest, healers who know how to survive the flankers and dps who can pull the weight of their own, all as one can win. If one is weak at his role, the team has less chances to win.

This is WHY, ONE-TRICKING, is BAD. You never know if you will get matched with 4 dps or 4 support mains in one team. These teams especially has the most chances to lose.

Damage dealers (Offense/Defense).

FPS game, so damage dealers are most important part of it. If you remove all tanks and supports or rework them into damage game will still be fun, just different. However, if you get rid of damage dealing heroes game will become boring slow paced tankfest. Tanks and supports are just extra addition to make this game more appealing to wider audience, like people who can’t aim/use damage-focused abilities and to add new possibilities, like amplifying damage dealers (job of supports, they are called support for a reaspm) and protecting them (tanks, they’re called that for a reason as well) so that they can eliminate enemies.

Whoever says DPS is least important is just delusional.
