I’ve been tentatively bringing some Tracer play into my repertoire, because Tracer is awesome. I am however a bit bad and not massively confident with her. However, since my last questions on the Tracer subject, and increasing sensitivity with her, I feel like I’m doing okay-ish when the opportunity arrises.
Which maps do people recommend playing her on? So far, basically Havana and 66 seem most likely to give me some joy and maybe Illios Lighthouse. Payloads in general seem best because they’re also least likely to be facing stupid turrets; while Assaults at this rank are bunkers and turrets galore which make it very hard work.
Cheers luvs.

Oasis usually works well for me
Basically any maps but it depends on the heroes your team chooses and your efficiency with the Tracer (gotta be a better DPS than the enemy team’s). I’ve seen people pick Tracer even with bunker, harrassing the enemy team’s healers. And it worked quite well.
I like having a Tracer in my team best when it’s on KOTH maps or in defense. Not a fan of having a Tracer for attack just like I don’t like having a Genji in defense (he’s better in attack).
But again, it all depends on the players you have against you (and in your team)… Some can do well in any situation so if you feel like playing your Tracer, at least try for 1-2 min to see it if goes well. Don’t always listen to people that ask you to switch before the match even begins ^^ !
I hope this helped ! Enjoy your game

I like you like 35% more now.
But for reals, her best maps should theoretically be any King of the Hill map. I personally love Oasis and Llijang, and have definitely had some of my best games there. But as soon as there’s a bunker comp and/or Torb in the mix, your fun is instantly ruined. So it’s hit or miss with those now a days.
And you’re right - payload maps are cool too. All dem flanking routes.
(Also, I’d suggest getting a good Winston buddy. While hilariously and coincidentally accurate to canon, Tracer and Winston duos are actually amazing in-game as well.)
Never use her on Payload maps as every single flanker character i have played with on my team refuses to move the payload because “that isn’t there job” they should just take them out of payload maps as they are an absolute scourge in that mode
Havana and 66 are pretty good. Personally I enjoy playing her on Havana as well and Dorado.
I’ve seen a lot of people play a good Tracer on Paris as well, and as someone else said Oasis.
… Because they’re right; that isn’t their job.
I mean, there are times when you push the payload, yeah. I don’t avoid it like the plague or anything like the stereotypes and memes suggest. But a flanker’s time is legitimately never best spent sitting on a cart.
Also, there’s a 3 person limit on the speed of the payload, so if the team’s already on it, there’s absolutely no reason for a flanker to hang around it as well.
Watch how teams do it in OWL - they only keep the minimum number on the cart. The tanks usually push ahead to secure space, even in GOATs meta. It’s very common (for some reason) misinformation that everyone needs to be on that dang payload. XD

D.Va is cart pusher in chief.
Will certainly work on these.

What a load of crap it is everyones job to move it, most flanker disappear & only come near it if they want some healing but are the first to complain when the cart doesn’t get moved
Nowadays the actually meta (not GOATS as it has never been actually used bar at the top levels) is 2 Flankers 2 Snipers the a healer & Tank at best. When it comes to payload maps that doesn’t work flankers don’t want to move the payload cause it not there job, Snipers wont touch it cause its not there job but will toxically blame the Tanks & healer when you lose because you haven’t moves it far enough
I dont mind a team full of flankers & snipers on KOTH or 2CP but on any payload maps they need to think better
Team comps matter more for tracer then the map.

Yes, but as I said, certain characters are simply better off not glued to the payload.
Think about it; if a flanker just sits on the cart, what are they actually contributing? How are they getting to the backline and taking out the supports?
In the situation you’re speaking of (2 flankers and 2 snipers) then … well, that’s a really strange comp to have for a payload map. But in that scenario, yes, there are times that Tracer and Genji need to help move the cart since Widow needs to be in another position, etc.
And as I said, yes, it’s everyone’s job to move it. If half your team died in a fight and all you have left is Genji, Tracer, and your healer, then they certainly should push the cart until the team’s back. But optimally you don’t want your flankers sitting on their thumbs on the payload.

I don’t like her on Numbani - A on attack, that’s about it. High-ground is a little bit of a problem for Tracer.
I like Hollywood, especially street phase
She’s decent on most maps… But especially ones with flank routes
In my experience, she can be equally good on any map unless the enemy has turrets on defense.
Playing into defense turrets is the kiss of death. That goes for turrets on KOTH as well. Only exception is if you have a Winston or excellent long-range DPS they can take out the turrets for you.
The maps where I feel I’m least impacted by enemy turrets is escort, although a Torb pirate ship variation can be trouble if I don’t have a dive partner.
You’ll generally do your best work on Tracer if you have a Winston and/or Zen on your side.
