This may not even be who you main, just who you find most fun. Personally for me it’s:
Tank: Mauga, this guy counters the enemy tanks I tended to struggle against pretty well, and he feels like TF2’s Heavy X2
DPS: Honestly, Venture! I struggle with aiming hitscan, so a close ranged explosive character with tons of fun movement is great for me, and the play style incorporating your melee attacks so heavily is interesting!
Healer: Gotta be Illari, the healing pylon allows you to be slightly more aggressive and help team pick fights whilst the pylon still keeps teammates healed. She feels good to play and I feel like a great asset to the team!
Not to sound emo or anything; however, Reinhardt is the only hero that is still fun. They ruin everything they touch. Only Reinhardt is sacred. If they ever decide to rework him, I am quitting this game.
Echo always had something special. She’s flexable, formable, and has a bit of everything she needs. Except HP, maybe, but it’s hard to beat a hero that can also get a bit of fun from another hero into its own kit.
My favorite heroes change on an approximately bi-monthly basis. For a while now, the heroes I enjoy the most have been Ramattra, Symmetra & Baptiste. I did also start to practice Venture & Wrecking Ball some time ago, and I’ve been enjoying them quite a bit now as well.
Brig and Venture when they’re not hard countered. Sombra used to be fun when she actually took skill to play well, but she’s braindead boring since the rework, getting worse and worse with each patch
I go through little seasons with each of the characters I play, but if I had to pick oneeee….
Tank: Dva
I love how aggressive you can play her and zipping around while shooting and missleing and defense matrixing…. She is just a lot of fun.
Dps: Sym
Yeah whatever. I know she is boring to a lot of people but the amount of things you can do with this character is insane. Far back close up teleport power….she can do so much.
Heals: Moira
Yeah also whatever. When you’re getting dived by super sombras and tracers, she can actually toe to toe them. Also, so many say she is the easiest hero….id say yes and no. There is true wisdom in expertly executed and well timed orbs of both kinds. To get to know how to do the amazing stuff it takes time.
Honorable mentions: rammatra, sigma, hanzo, sombra, zen, brig, and mercy. They are a lot of fun to play for me.
Anything with a projectile, trying to be consistent with projectile heroes makes the game more fun for me. It’s more than just pointing and clicking heads which is why I play hanzo over widow. Leading shots, seeing the arrow drop, predicting movement, thats what I really enjoy doing. Sure projectile heroes tend to spam more but in high level play, spamming is actually not effective at all.
Reinhardt.
Charge to pin. Hammer slaps. Shield to coax squishies into trying to flank me in a hallway.
Then there are the occasional funny moments. Like the time a Pharah’s teammates launched me up into the air and my charge connected in mid air. Or that time a Junkrat tried to launch me away from his team, but just launched me up onto his level and I pinned him. Or all those 8 Rein Deathmatches, those are always fun AF.
Moira.
I usually queue as all roles. Normally this means I get to be a healer. (except when a new healer is introduced, then it means I get to be either tank or dps)
Moira is my “go to” hero for when I get sick of being harassed by a Widow while playing another healer. I can usually launch or sneak my way up to wherever Widow is and kill her. And once she’s taken care of, I can drop down to help my team by killing the enemy healers. Normally it takes the DPS turning around to help their healers to stop me.
