Where to check that I have set everything to 144Hz?

So I’ve recently upgraded from a 60 to a 144Hz monitor, however I haven’t noticed that big of a difference (maybe I’m just blind). I’ve set 144Hz in Windows, nvidia control panel, and in game. Is there anywhere else I should check, to make sure I’m playing at 144Hz?

It’s odd how you haven’t noticed a difference, because I found it to be quite a dramatic improvement. Try this website to check to see if it’s 144Hz outside of OW:

Let me know your results!

144Hz fps 144hz refresh rate. 7 pixels per frame 960 pixels per sec

You should check if your PC can handle the game at high framerates too. Turn off Vsync, check if there’s a framerate limit, turn it up to 144 at least (I use 180).

In settings enable display of fps in game, that is the most sure way to see if it is woking on 144hz.

A few notes

  • in menus it will always be 60hz only in a match will it go up to 144hz
  • HDMI cable supports max 60hz, you need a Display Port cable for higher frequencies

You should be good then. You already mentioned that you changed your ingame settings, so it’s quite likely that it’s doing the proper 144Hz. Have you tried comparing 60 and 144Hz right after one another? The website that I already shared gives a comparison, so you should have at least noticed a difference there.

This isn’t quite true. Many older HDMI cables support max 60Hz. Some monitors can use HDMI 1.4 to handle 144Hz 1080p with no trouble. If the cable came with the monitor - even if it is an HDMI cable - it should be fine.

Yeah I have the framrate capped at 288. I heard that going by your monitors refresh rate for fps cap is good. Like if you have 144Hz, then you can cap it at 144 or 288 etc.

Yeah my older system was a 60Hz laptop so I should try to play on it to see if there is a difference. Maybe I already got used to 144Hz lol…
