Why exactly does it being industry standard = good?
Agricultural and textile industries often use literal foreign slave labor. Is that also good, just because it’s how a business does it?

This happened with the rise of online live service games. Not many games out there will sell a box price and then update it for years and years
If they sold expansions then some people still would not buy them and have all the heroes and what not. I wouldnt buy a new hero pack when 80% of my play time is on the same couple anyway
F2P also drives high engagement (playtime and money spend) which is the metric for the success of the game. Shareholders want to see big numbers

You actually believe that? I played games with hundreds/thousands of hours of content for $60 and never had to pay a dollar more.

no you didnt. you played games with high replay value. I pay 100$ a year for destiny and I get more than 4x the amount of new missions, cosmetics, weapons materials armor than I ever did for a $60 in the box halo
name any in the box game and I will tell you a game that gives more value on a live service system

I remember seeing all this coming back in 2011. The moment cosmetics micro transactions were appearing everywhere I knew the golden age of gaming(95-2010) was over.

?? What is content to you? If you’re talking about actual content, actual raw data, character models, voices, maps, etc… 90% of single player games, from Skyrim to fallout to Witcher, etc… have more “content.” Overwatch, and most FPS, are literally a handful of maps, handful of characters, and a handful of voice lines. Just replayed over and over.
Damn, you caught me. I’m so afraid of being caught up in a “lie” that I scrubbed google of my name and hid my entire past. 
I offered an SAT score because it’s quantifiable. I mean, college transcripts (4.0 across the board) work too, but they’re not that reliable since anyone should be able to 4.0 a course if they’re doing the required amount of work. My degrees aren’t in physics or medical, but CIS and cybersecurity. 
Day one DLC. That was a pretty big eye opener.
