Where is the budget for this game?

What happened with the whole Microsoft adquisition where we all thought OW was saved? Where is the budget for this game and why are we getting more recolors than ever???

I never thought OW was saved. More like adding time to the meter.

Seriously though! What gives?

Ah you fell for the f2p = more thing?

We get more recolors cause they’re easy money and require no effort…simple as that

I kinda did tbh

I just want to point out that Marvel Rivals is releasing multiple new heroes every new season unlike OW that struggles to release 1 half a year

They fumbled the sequel, why would they invest to a failing game? Even Minecraft hasn’t released game-changing updates in years.

I mean they had quite a few layoffs.

Maybe I’m ignorant but tbh Mr is very much quantity over quality with its heroes. Their ults are not that interesting, a lot of the kits are pretty bland, and even much of the voice acting seems rather dull.

You can’t be serious. Marvel has already laid out their hero and their abilities. OW team had to come with all new abilties and lore for a new hero. That take lot of work.

This. MR voice feels soul-less. It feel like they were bored when recorded. OW voice atleast has a soul and impact when they speak.

For example this voice. https://x.com/mushroomiiee/status/1866585861946556907

It’s pretty hilarious at end.

I saw a voice line between hazard and Ashe and he mentions Susie and in like, wait hold up who is Susie?!

But yeah I can’t really say much about the actual writing about interactions in mr they seem fine enough from what I’ve heard anyway, but they it just doesn’t hit the same the way some of them are delivered. I’m trying not to be rude to the VAs because I imagine it’s no easy task but that’s how it feels

You are indee ignorant because you clearly have not heard Squirrel Girl voicelines, her VA is amazing

We get 3 a year. And personally I am fine with that. I wouldn’t want too many constantly throwing the balance off for multiple patches. Tho from what I hear, balance is a mess in rivals as it is right now. Hopefully they can get that in a better state. Imo ow did a great job improving the game in the first few months.

Also I think it would be much easier to make new marvel heroes than ow ones, as they have a million established characters already. Nothing is original where every ow hero is an original design. Of course three still need to make the abilities and such, but have so much to work with already from the characters.

Tho unless their seasons are long, I don’t think they will be able to keep up with 2+ heroes a season, assuming seasons are 2-3 months.

Rivals really hasn’t had “balancing” of any kind as far as I know…or an identity even yet…like that takes time to actually develop…OW1 was very different already by the end of its first year compared to launch

I don’t know how old people playing rivals are, but these things always play out the same way….theres a “life cycle” to these types of things and if it breaks from the norm it’ll be newsworthy

Call it what you want: euphoria, honeymoon period, rose colored glasses…it’s a real thing

Oh for sure. But in the coming months when it’s no longer new; people will likely start acknowledging the issues the game has, and complaining about them. Guess we shall see how their devs handle them.

Like people complain about ow hitboxes being too big and wonky, and then this is rivals……

People get mad at me for saying it….but just pay close attention to how many overwatch cons are listed as MR pros…it’s hilarious

It’s not objective criticism…it’s just fresh factor blinding objectivity

Normally when Microsoft buys other game studios, they shut them down…

The fact that it hasn’t happened to ActiBlizz is the exception, not the rule

And LOL at anyone who actually thought that MS would invest more money into the game… that’s literally not how big acquisitions work (most of the time, at least)

Generally when any company gets acquired or merged into a larger one, layoffs ensue, if not a shuttering of the whole thing eventually.

Most of those people just want to hate on ow and praise something else.

If they are happy on rivals, I wish them all the best. As for me, I think third person is a worse experience, but it does show skins, which is why I assume they decided on it. Having a like pre s9 hitscan hitbox on the left, and a rein fire strike hitbox on the right is just so bad.

I am curious to see how they will address the blatantly op heroes in the game. Will they actually give them the massive nerfs they need? Will they try and buff everything else introducing massive power creep? Guess we will find out.

The identity I’ve come to adopt is getting punched repeatedly in the backline and dying in 2 seconds

I agree with you on these points but that does not really matter since those things have always been stellar with OW but it hasn’t mattered in retaining players. The game may be more polished than MR but that does not translate to fun gameplay.
