There needs to be some sort of follow up after you report people for afk spam sabotage or whatever. Currently the system is report someone and hope they get punished. Well that doesnt do me any good and it lacks credibility and accountability. How do i know im not wasting my time on these reports?
After each report players should receive a quick update on
X action was taken against Y player for Z behavior that you reported
Or
No action was taken on Y player for Z behavior that you reported for X reason
There are follow ups⊠I get messages when I log into the game about actions taken from my reports. Maybe youâre not reporting for the right reasons and so there arenât enough reports for your report to have contributed to any action.
Blizzard will not reveal the details for actions taken when you file a report. This helps prevent witch hunting and harassment, especially if the person you reported is innocent of any violation of the Blizzard code of conduct.
If a report you file does help lead to Blizzard to actioning a user you will however receive this message when you log on to the game:
There literally are follow ups. Seems like your reports either didnât go through yet or they decided they wonât take any actions.
Most of the times I get as many report âthank youâ notes as many reports I did. Once I had like 4 thank you notes in a row. They come up when launching the game like the endorsements rewards. So they definitely work.
Does this apply to pc and console? I play on ps4 and ive never gotten a message like this before
And i know for a fact there have been reports ive done that are blatantly obvious and worthy of punishment like someone going afk for the entire second half of a round or someone jumping off the map on purpose once we start losing
Like theres no way if they got these reports and looked at them that these people were not deserving of punishment. I even include when it happened in the comments section like âwent afk for the second half of round 2â to make it easier for them to see it
It applies to all platforms. Remember we are all human and sometimes some of us may make mistakes. Yes you may have reported a person who was blatantly in violation of the code of conduct but what if it was a one-time issue? Thatâs not very likely to be acted upon (though it is possible). Weâre not allowed to know much about how Blizzard works about the report system, but what I can tell you is that if a person has repeated behavior that is not in line with most of the community, Blizzard will vary likely take action against that user. As always⊠play nice, play fair.
The replay system is going to be good for more accurate reports. If you suspect someone is actually throwing, you can look at your replay and verify it yourself in a more objective way than just trying to see what they do in a match, although sometimes it wonât be that obvious anyway. Itâs gonna be pretty neat.
The replay system will be helpful for a player to make a better decision on whether to report a user or not when it comes to gameplay sabotage or cheating. That being said my one concern about the replay system is players exporting out and uploading video from matches and posting it on the forums, Reddit, or social media. Which only leads to harassment.
I think this will help quality of matches indirectly a little bit as well because then people donât have to worry about trying to look specifically during a match so much, and can check afterwards to see what went wrong if it was their own play or if it was some other factor they couldnât control.
Yeah thatâs true, I was just thinking about this. I suspect thereâll be an influx of these kinds of posts after itâs released, but I hope people donât use it that way - at least not showing their names or anything like that would be OK, but names shown wouldnât be right. Maybe the replay system shouldnât show actual names at all, but thereâs complications with that as well, so I dunno.
If thats the case then blizzard has extremely lenient standards when it comes to people behaving poorly in game
Do you have to be afk literally the whole match to get a penalty for it? Like whats the threshold? Is someone jumping off the map 2-3 times consecutively not considered afk/sabotage?
I dont report people randomly for no reason. I definitely average under 1 report a game i only do it if i truly believe they are doing something wrong and i observe the behavior for sure.
There is literally no way all the reports ive submitted are undeserving of punishment, unless the bar is simply so high that you have to be afk for a ludicrous amount of time for it to be considered afk
