When you don't care.... game is fun...this is why its dying

Ok so this is my hot take, if you genuinely don’t care about the match or even trying to win you enjoy the game more.

That is the problem with Overwatch

When you have more fun because you ultimately decide that you have been given the worse team or even you have been matched up against people who are a lot better / grouped etc. You just have way more fun.

The matchmaking being so bad in this game just leads everyone to the same conclusion which is

I’ll just play what I want

This is the reason Team 4 have failed so badly with this game. When it more fun to care about not trying to win in a competitive game… your game becomes non competitive.

The game is far from dead and we will always have times like this. The main question is how they can fix this. Its not a gameplay or balance problem and rather a problem with what content is and how rewarding it is to play the game.

We have no good reward structure in the game and that is slowly but surely driving players away. Seasons like this one with nothing new in terms of heroes for people to enjoy and no good skins in the BP, people just play something else.

The game needs a big reward overhaul that is not tied to the BP, is free, you can show off (if you want) and they change and update it regular. Something like the old level system for the account. They messed up the hero level system in that it takes too long to get levels and that you cant even show them in the game to your teammates or enemies and only your overall level, who no one even knows how high it is and mainly favors people who play every hero anyway.

OW stopped being competitive a long time ago. Just play for fun and not for raising blood pressure, as game is intended.

did bing ai write this post?

I always enjoy the game most after a long break because I have nothing to lose by playing heroes I am not good with, or even playing heroes I like kinda stupidly and recklessly. I don’t care as much what other people are playing or doing, I’m just out to jump pack assassinate.

Also, the last time I came back from a long break, I had two new maps and two new heroes to try.

As I eventually get more serious and invested, I start to slowly fade until I get bored of old habits and move on for awhile again. When I start looking for scapegoats and refilling my avoid list daily, it’s time a break. It works out, because I have a huge backlog of other games I still want to play.
