When will Blizzard shut down Overwatch?

We are only 10 months into Overwatch 2’s release but the signs for this game’s future are looking very bad.

According to Blizzard themselves, in their earning report, more and more players are leaving.

I live in a country where a lot of my friends play videogames to make a living and Overwatch has been losing quite a bit of popularity lately so a lot of the pros have moved on to other games since this is their means of earning a living.

As long as they keep making money for minimal effort, Overwatch will be alive and well. For once, it is up to the fans. If we all stopped spending money now, they would pull the plug after the anniversary event. If we keep supporting it until 2033, we will get content until 2033.

I don’t think it’ll make it to the next PvE missions, to be honest.

Same. I will be very surprised if October we won’t se RERUNS of previous battlepasses like “Cyberpunk 2” with the same skins with the excuse of “for those the missed it the first time”

Also the rate at we are, the Anniversary event already looks lazy.

They say that the modes, their challenges AND cosmetics return, which mean those that already finished the challenges will have no incentive to play the modes because you will earn the same cosmetics, and . (except mischief and magic, because that mode is actually silly goofy fun)

And knowing blizzard they still have nothing implemented to give something to those that already have certain items. Soljourn Challenges, I already had the optic highlight intro, and we get nothing in exchange for completing the challenge, no coins, not even credits or just a different highlight intro.

They don’t seem to understand that if they are this greedy and stingy with rewards, people feel bad about supporting the game, and will actually purchase less.

I haven’t given them money, since the Bee Mercy skin, and I kind of regretted even that, because that was before the PvE announciation, and now I feel like I contributed to that decision.

First off they will never actually shut down the OW servers. They have games that have been up for 20 years despite not getting content updates and are not going to shut those down either.

Second off, that quote misses a lot of context. Basically S5 had no content which is why they were not particularly surprised that engagement fell off. Honestly both WoW and Overwatch seemed to basically throw out the most token content they could last season with the idea that D4 was launching and everyone will be playing that instead for a month or two.

Look at heroes of the storm and we can still play it

Yeah what people don’t understand is that OW2 “earning less” is still an insane number so yeah, don’t think its happening. At least in the next 5 years.

when? well, when everyone has exotic enhancements allowing players to fully counteract developer rigging, restoring competitive integrity and sovereignty from experimental AI artificial outcomes.

I hope they do it very soon because this game is trash. I play but if it shuts down I can finally be relieved.
