When rules don't apply to xqc why should any of us have to follow them

Rules that are repeatedly broken and the company that just chalks it up in tantrums In an email to Overwatch Wire, Blizzard has confirmed that Félix “xQc” Lengyel has only received a formal warning after his recent 15-day ban. This means that he will still be eligible to compete in this year’s Overwatch World Cup.

After this most recent ban, there were concerns that xQc would no longer be eligible for the World Cup as per the official rules, which state that all accounts must be in “good standing” to be eligible.

In an email to Overwatch Wire, Blizzard confirmed this was not the case and that xQc would still be able to compete on the Team Canada roster.

The email read:

Felix “xQc” Lengyel has received a formal warning after receiving a 15-day ban in game for abusive chat. Given that his suspension for this infraction ends on August 26, he will be eligible to play for the Canadian National Team at the Overwatch World Cup Los Angeles Group Stage.

xQc was previously suspended from professional Overwatch League matches during his time as a main tank player for the Dallas Fuel.

Initially, he was suspended for the remainder of the stage during Week 2 of Stage One of the Inaugural Season. Then, after a brief return, he was fined $4000 and suspended for four further matches during Stage Two.

Only a few days later and before his suspension had been carried out, he was dismissed from the team.

In this case, xQc’s suspension is related to his game account and not professional matches. However, given the aforementioned “good standing” clause, there were concerns that this suspension might have a knock-on effect with his upcoming Overwatch World Cup games at the Los Angeles Group Stage.

The Overwatch World Cup Los Angeles Group Stage begins on September 7th at 10:00AM PDT. You can find more information

Banned, fined, ejected from OWL, and warned that if he gets banned again he will lose World Cup eligibility. Yet you say rules don’t apply to him?

He signed a overwatch rule book. See //www.google.com/amp/s/www.heroesneverdie.com/platform/amp/2018/3/23/17157978/overwatch-league-rules-regulation-leaked blizzard owns him

Am I missing something? Canada doesn’t play until September 7 as per the official website, and he’s unbanned right now. His accounts are now in good standing, and assuming he doesn’t get banned again they will be when Team Canada plays; therefore he will be eligible.

I really don’t understand why it’s so difficult for him to keep himself from getting banned…

He’s impulsive and emotional which draws a lot of viewers, so he probably plays it up a bit as well.

Tbh though, watching Canada in the World cup would be so boring without XQC, I mean they still got surefour. But despite him being treated differently, I am glad he didn’t get banned.

Well that’s one hell of a loophole.

Technically speaking he isn’t banned during the tournament games he’d be playing in, so his ban wouldn’t stop him from playing anyways. Thus he’s allowed to join in on the scene.

That said, Blizzard shouldn’t be giving their professionals these kinds of loopholes. They really should be cracking down more on them, harder than anyone else, not letting them off the hook just because “lol his timer ran out just in time”.

more rules apply to him than you. He got banned for reporting someone for dumb reasons. He also got banned for being toxic in the voice comms, he got banned for calling a friend a slur on accident, so which rules does he get to bypass? Because it seems like he gets hit for everything and more.
