was running through training mode today and noticed i struggle with downward flicks far more than other directions. I then tried lifting my wrist and I have better accuracy, but it tires out my arm too much.
Typically want to move to arm aiming as opposed to wrist aiming for accuracy and more control with lower sensitivity.
Keep in mind this will hurt your arm a lot though, some people even get injured. You want to set your desk/chair up correctly so it doesn’t hurt.
no no. i use arm aiming. I typically wrest my wrist on the table though so i don’t have to support all of my arm’s weight. But for small distances I think i end up moving the mouse with my fingers for small 3mm flicks instead of using my arm which reduces my accuracy or something. not sure why… i was just wondering whether it’s bad for my arm to support all that weight for a long period of time as opposed to resting some weight on the table
Ah, I am unsured about that lol sorry.
It’s a preference thing. I’d suggest going to YouTube and searching for “FPS game ergonomics” or something similar.
“How to hold a mouse”
“How to avoid carpel tunnel” was what I looked up and I adjusted everything. Now I’m more comfy than I thought I could be, lol
k. basically keeping my wrist on the table seems to make me use my fingers to do small adjustments, while having it off the table makes it more natural to use the arm. I have no idea what is actually better.
Scientifically i want to say that using your fingers/wrist ought to be more accurate for small movements, but I think it adds inconsistency if you are playing low sensitivity because if your range of motion is lower when moving the mouse with just your fingers and wrist, then if the enemy genji suddenly jumps just slightly out of your range of motion, you are very likely to first move 95% of the way to the spot using your fingers and wrist and then try to use your arm for the remaining 5% of the distance.
While if you always use your arm for everything the movement is pretty similar all the time, and you never feel like the enemy moved so far that you need to change your method of moving the mouse.
This is probably why wrist player were famous for being high sensitivity players originally.
Ah, but there are more options.
As an example I rest the front of my palm on my mouse and use my fingers and the gap between the base of my palm and the mouse to make tiny, faster adjustments to my aim when needed, using mostly my arm to aim.
This gap give a little play room if you get me.
That’s why I suggest to look into it. There are many different ways to skin a cat- I mean hold a mouse.
Gl & Hf!
