When is the hanzo rework coming

there are hanzo videos to teach people where to scatter to one shot kill, even those videos filmed using a standing still character, he can’t one shot 100% of the time on the first try. it is not as easy as you think, and the area vary based on terrain and the angle of approach. it is different in each circumstance and depended a lot on the hanzo’s experience on his geometry.

definitely! that post was after volley and horizontal leap were revealed as the chosen ability, it’s obvious that they want Hanzo to feel equally as powerful and this is something that’ll frustrate a lot of people

Playing against a good hanzo who can hit headshots consistently is equally annoying as a hanzo who kills you with scatter everytime but people seem to forget that tid bit of information

As a tip, most people aren’t upset if they are ACTUALLY sniped by a sniper

Meanwhille im here

Lurking in the shadows

Only because it doesn’t happen often. Trust me, people will absolutely complain if it becomes more common. Especially since Hanzo typically excels in mid-close range engagements as opposed to someone like Widow, who has to slink around in the background.

This is so untrue that the rumor about Hanzo’s arrows having a huge hitbox started spreading without any kind of basis whatsoever, mind you this was debunked by a developer a few days ago, his and Genji’s shurikens are tied for smallest projectile on the game

People will complain about anything that kills them constantly

Nah. I’m never going to miss getting killed by a shot that wasn’t even aimed at me. If I can’t react to multiple arrows being fired at me, that’s all on me, not RNG.

Just because the crosshair wasn’t on your head, doesn’t mean the shot wasn’t aimed at you. I swear, it’s like you people think scatter has homing qualities or something.

You’re missing the forest for the trees. The semantics of Scatter don’t matter.

People hate it because it’s perceived to be a low skill, easy kill with little to no counterplay.

Is that the truth? Maybe. Maybe not. It doesn’t really matter. At this point, Scatter is practically gone and defending or attacking it won’t change much.

Even if new Hanzo is busted, they won’t be begging for Scatter back. They’ll just ask for new Hanzo to be nerfed.

I’m not missing anything. I am not defending scatter. I think it’s inconsistent, and would welcome its removal if the damage was compensated for in other areas of Hanzo’s kit.

All I’m doing is fighting back against the common misconceptions and outright lies that have centered around the ability since launch. People’s disdain for one-shot abilities has apparently caused them to abandon any and all adherence to reality. And since downvotes no longer exist on these boards, I can actually point out the truth without being dogpiled on.

One of Hanzo’s perks is his ability to finish off enemies running away or hiding behind objects. I would rather prefer to see scatter nerfed to the ground (making it viable only to finish off weakened escaping enemies behind e.g. doors) and volley introduced as a separate ability.

People don’t have a disdain for OHK’s. They have a disdain for abilities which are perceived to be low-skill, high reward.

Roadhog’s Hook
Genji’s Deflect
Ana’s Grenade
Mercy’s Res
Junk’s Mines

And more recently, Sombra’s Hack.

People are less opposed to OHK’s if they’re perceived to be either high risk, or inherently skill-based like Headshots or Reinhardt’s Charge. I doubt you’re going to convince many people that Scatter belongs in the former category and actually requires 300 IQ to pull off.

People don’t have a disdain for OHK’s.

My eyes rolled back so hard I’m staring at the back of my head.

Almost every OHKO in the game has been nerfed or changed in some manner. Even the ones you mention as “accepted” by the community, namely Rein’s charge and Widow’s headshots have gone through changes.

No, I don’t think scatter requires an insane amount of skill to pull-off. But I don’t know why that was ever a concern for people. The skill in this game comes primarily from skillful use of primary weapons. Flashbang + FtH is easier than landing headshots, yet does more damage. Helix rocket is easier to land (and more generous with splash damage) than earning headshots, yet it does more damage. Lobbing two mines at someone is easier than skillfully hitting them with an equal number of grenades, yet they do more damage. That’s how skills work in this game.

People had a problem with scatter because it did more damage than all of these other abilities, but that made sense because of how much more difficult (and slow) his primary was in comparison to everyone else’s. It was balanced. The problem is, people want to look at skills they dislike as though they exist in a vacuum, rather than looking at how they exist in relation to the rest of a character’s capabilities and kit.

Way to just assume whatever there.

I’m talking about when it’s aimed at someone, or in a different room and it ricochets to someone else. That’s ridiculous.

Then despite what you say, you ARE missing the point. Player perception is a massive part of Blizzards balancing system and literally is the entire reason why Scatter is getting removed in his rework.

Looking at it from a player perspective, all those abiltiies have drawbacks.

FB requires McCree to be close-range, Helix Rocket is a projectile and is thus inherently harder to hit than a Hitscan weapon, and Double-mine wasn’t perceived to have a drawback, and was heavily nerfed as a result.

From a player perspective, what was Scatters drawback? It was perceived to be just as easy, if not easier to land as a bodyshot, but fairly reliably did more damage than a headshot.

Probably after Brigitte is live in comp, so maybe like a month? If not it’ll probably be after Uprising i.e. 2 months.

It’s also so rare that it’s not worth considering when discussing balance changes.

If they manage to hit me in the head 6 times, I think I’ll be fine with it. Because they had to aim at me and not my feet to kill me.

I also give you permission to copy-paste this, screenshot it, etc. and hold it against me if I dare say anything otherwise.

It actually means greater than 300 which is more than 300…

Me saying, “I don’t get why this was ever a concern for people” doesn’t mean that I don’t understand player perception and its role in game balance. It’s a way of saying that player perception, in this case, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I definitely think people’s bias one-shot abilities played into their disdain for scatter.

It was perceived to be just as easy, if not easier to land as a bodyshot,

As are all the other abilities I mentioned. Which is my point.

FB requires McCree to be close-range

…and?

Helix Rocket is a projectile and is thus inherently harder to hit than a Hitscan weapon,

Wrong. It is absolutely easier to land a helix rocket than the number of headshots required to do an equivalent amount of damage. Especially on a moving target. Projectiles aren’t inherently hard to hit, it’s all about their speed and how manageable their arc is.

and Double-mine wasn’t perceived to have a drawback, and was heavily nerfed as a result.

It is still quite strong. I’m not sure what the drawback is to lobbing two mines at someone is. It just does less damage now than it did before. And anyway, similar to FtH, they didn’t remove these abilities from the game. They tweaked them.

It was perceived to be just as easy, if not easier to land as a bodyshot,

As are all the other abilities I mentioned. Which is my point.

From a player perspective, what was Scatters drawback?

It’s inconsistency, the fact that it required a completely different form of arm than the rest of Hanzo’s kit, the fact that is was near useless against a jumping enemy, the fact that is responds oddly to any sort of incline or curb, the fact that is was actually completely useless at shooting into hallways and rooms since the fragments would just fly all over the place and not hit anything, the fact that direct hits complete negate the damage potential of the ability despite you being trained to land them, and the fact that is has a obvious tell of you staring at the floor like you’re looking for loose change.
