sports teams do not have 2 GMs, most businesses don’t have 2 GMs. Has there been ever a time where having two equal level bosses actually helped?
Someone able to fill me in on what I’m missing?
Brack “stepped down” and now two people are taking his position. Sorry should’ve made that clearer.
Sparta had 2 kings for a long time
Don’t know but if that’s what they wanna do maybe they think it’s for the best
Naughty Dog has this co-leadership and just barely works. The Last of Us part II is a prime example of that: 7 years of making (4 of full production), loads of money spent (still disclosed), brutal massive extensive crunch with gigantic turnovers. All of this to deliver a game with very debatable quality and mysterious sales (as if Sony is afraid to show disappointing sales numbers to the Public), even with some unquestionable top-tier assets (graphics, sounds, animations, polishment…). Its approach is brutally toxic, self-destructive, unsustainable with an impending inevitable collapse up ahead, especially with
Neil Druckmann as co-president
.
So, no, I do not think this 2-boss approach will work at Blizzard Entertainment either. Not if you desire for a healthy, sustainable, happy and safe workplace for its employees.
Idk the Roman Republic did alright from what I hear.
So if I wear purple will I get shanked at blizzard?
Hmmm…well from my experience, my last 4 jobs. 2 had 1 in charge and 2 had 2 in charge.
Both of the places with 1 in charge were garbage places to work. Like horrible.
Both of the places with 2 in charge were very good places to work. Had a hard time leaving one for the other because it was such a good place to work, but I just couldn’t turn down an offer that was for so much more money. Turns out this place is even better.
So, anecdotal I know. But it can work.
Sparta also did things far worse than what Blizz is accused of. And I don’t think they made videogames so maybe they aren’t a good example.
Hey now, as I understand it the shanking incident occurred because somebody decided he was too cool to be just a co-leader. If he’d kept a buddy on board he surely would’ve had a better time.
It’s a 1 boss approach. Kotick is just bamboozling everyone into thinking those two have significant power.
When neither want to step down, and work under the other, or take a pay cut.
are we applying 21st century standard to the antiquity here too now? gosh…
point is Sparta wasn’t an anarchy for centuries, neither was the roman republic, both have a point in commun though, the two ruler didn’t had a lot of power, now to quote someone from another topic:
TLOU 2 is an amazing game. Every game Ive played by Naughty Dog has been good to play and ground breaking in some way.
spartans also engaged in boy love
— Ben & Jerry’s —
It’s two people without actual titles. They’re pointless. They just take marching orders from Kotick.
Also they’ve been at blizzard two years and they’re leading the company now, if that gives you some context for the hilarious exodus of talent from the company.
When has anyone cared?
I basically have two bosses at my current job and we’re not doing too badly.
