Yikes. I don’t think any shooter is worse than overwatch at this point. Just been playing Infinite today and it took 3 ranked games till my games became balanced, fun, and close matches. Meanwhile OW2 has been 90% stomps or get stomped for a nearly a year and its now de-ranking people for winning.

It’s a lot better than it used to be I’ll say that. Game runs better, they made some weapon improvements, forge maps are really really good. Don’t want to speak much on it this early but I’m enjoying it a lot more than launch days.

Overwatch matchmaking is ruined by smurfs/ stacks who make it impossible to climb for solo players. Those are where those stomps come from mostly.

Literally every game I have ever played has better matchmaking. I believe they were actively trying to make Overwatch unplayable.

I still have only 10% of my comp games that would qualify as a stomp by any reasonable definition and that still holds true for everyone I know. So either you have rng that is equivalent to someone winning the lottery 2x in a row or you have too broad of a definition of a stomp.
Based on my Gacha luck, I would actually buy the explanation that I am just unlucky. Or just life in general. It wouldn’t be hard to convince me…
I’ve been a solo ranked player since 2018. OW1 could be frustrating solo but climbing was still very doable. In OW2 I’ve watched Dafran, one of the best players in the world, go on a 5 game losing streak in Diamond. Matchmaking is so bad in this game it’s become a complete waste of time for solo players. Your individual skill cannot make a difference big enough to win a game when you have people on your team 2-4 ranks worse than you.
The last overwatch ranked game I played, of course everyone flamed me the tank but I was just not getting healed and there’s nothing I can do about that. I went back to watch the replay and was met with a Moira holding left click on a full health soldier, an Ana with terrible positioning not even trying to position to see me, the tank, so I literally got 0 healing and the low IQ team mates blame me.
OW1 gave the occasional unwinnable match because of bad team mates. OW2 gives twice if not 3 times the unwinnable matches. It’s a complete waste of time for solo queuers. And I believe people who stack get a massive advantage since they bypass the matchmaking and that’s why so many players are boosted. As someone that hit masters in OW1 solo queuing, if I was stacking I’d probably be top 500.

The matchmaking seems the same to OW1, the last 3 seasons. Like they brought MMR back.
Where as in season 3 of OW2 if you went on a big win streak you were rewarded climbing a whole rank from diamond to masters.
You were also put against gm’s where you could prove yourself, but you also had gm’s on your team. That kinda matchmaking was so fun for me and was very rewarding.

If you’re good enough you’ll climb solo. If somebody finds it impossible to climb solo they’re probably just used to being boosted.
The matchmaker is a dumpsterfire for sure but it’s not why people can’t climb.
The derank win thing I can’t explain, but there were and still are numerous regular complaints about stomps in Infinite for the same reason there are complaints about it in Overwatch.
Also, considering that the game is placed significantly lower on XBL’s charts and has considerably lower player counts on Steam, it’s also fair to assume the match balance quality is noticeably worse.
At this point a monkey fight in the middle of the jungle has a better matchmaking

How can you say that and then go on to say
You acknowledge the matchmaker is a dumpster fire but think it has no effect on people climbing? Your skill can only make a big enough difference to pull a win if your team mates are good enough to support you. A top 500 player will lose in a bronze lobby if his supports don’t heal him.
I’ve been solo queueing ranked for 5 years. There’s a massive difference. Ranked just feels like complete RNG now. When I win the games are so ez I could go afk and win. When I lose the games are so hard I could play the best game of my life and still lose. And I mean they’re hard as in I’m doing everything to take space while my supports throw heals into a full health soldier and I die. Unwinnable because team mates are bronze quality in a diamond game.

Most content creators have quit ranked because they lose far more than they ever did because it’s just an RNG game now and their skill makes no difference in the outcome of the match when they have literal gold players on their team.
The ranked system isn’t even real anymore. I have screen shots of people moving from gold to diamond with sub 20% win rate. The match quality is so bad because blizzard boosted 40% of low rank players to retain fast queues in the less populated higher ranks. They’ve thrown out all competitive integrity for fast matchmaking.

I tried to play halo (again) months ago. It’s the only game I’ve played (in a loooooooong while) that just randomly crashes.
So, I’m glad the MM work for the 20 or so people that still played (last I looked). But the optimization is as bad as it’s ever been.

I did say you’ll lose a few games and that’s fine. Individual matches aren’t important in the grand scheme of things.

Probably because you’re low rank where matchmaking isn’t bad because it doesn’t have boosted players. OR you’re just one of the boosted players that pretends like they deserved to move from gold to diamond on day one of season 4 for losing all 5 placements. They’re all over this forum and will gladly show their career profile after season 4 but get all defensive when you ask to see the actual climb progression.
Technically I could say I’m climbing too because one of my accounts got boosted by blizzard.
I’ve started playing TF2 again since Invasion came out. I’ve literally only seen one bot and they’ve been instantly votekicked out.
So yeah, OW2 is among the worst ones now.
