When Do You Think An Official OW Movie Will Be Made?

I’m sure it won’t be for a very, very, VERY long time. It took Blizzard about 23 years to make the first Warcraft into a movie, plus they’ve got other games like StarCraft, Heroes of the Storm, etc.

You cant make an OW movie because it has no lore. The “lore” is just some random fanfic in progress to explain why a monkey, a ghost, a robot, and any other archetype is fighting each other, and it fails at that. Im certain a movie will never be made.

World or Warcraft with it’s heaps and bundles of lore which included books, comic strips, animations, and more didn’t get a movie for like 10 years.

So, I really don’t think Overwatch will get a movie.

hopefully never. Not a fan of 12+ cartoons with smiling people and always losing bad guys

It won’t, we don’t even have a solid storyline yet.
Warcraft got a movie because it has heaps of lore.

Overwatch Lore at present could barely justify a 30 minute tv special.

I still have a sliver of hope when it comes to a overwatch movie or show.

But this is activision so😭

But hey, would be so cool❤️

Here’s to hope😄

I’d lean towards never/not any time soon.

Blizzard’s put a ton of effort into cinematic content. But, the view count hasn’t been that high.

Here’s the most viewed video on Overwatch so far:

It drops in at 49 mil.

The most popular Overwatch Short “Dragons” drops in at 28 mil

The below video beats around 1/2 of the shorts in view count:

The lore hasn’t progressed all that far so you don’t have much to bring people in from that angle.

Character appeal wise I think many of the characters don’t have enough to carry a movie for a large enough audience.

The game isn’t old enough and doesn’t have enough good will to make it off of that either.

You’ve also got the issue of what ground you’d cover to be interesting while also not taking away from the game.

To answer the question - in about 10 years at the very best.

It’s a good think Blizz doesn’t drop their franchises. But Overwatch is still very young. I heard a rumor about a Star Craft Netflix series, there’s also a comic book on the way.

This game’s lore consist of 29 heroes whose backstories can be summed up in 1 sentence each. If they’d make one it’d be awesome since their cinematic team is great but it’d probably be way too costly

I’d honestly prefer a tv/web series that we can either stream or download
but failing that a movie would be ok
I feel the tv series could tell the story better

I think it would be REALLY nice to have an overwatch Movie that tells the whole story. I mean it’s a really cool game with rich story. For their current animated shorts being CGI it’s REALLY good. They are right up there with some of the stuff Pixar does, and the stories are REALLY good. BUT the problem is, they are losing fans very fast. I mean I really didn’t care what they told their story about 76 either. To me, it is THEIR story and if they have us a story to tell. I am ALL ears. I could see Overwatch being a Trilogy, easy. But the problem is…,

The game’s state of interest among the player base has slipped away quite fast with Mercy being the First issue and the focus shifting onto Overwatch League causing the second DE-railment.

  • The casual player base literally LEFT the game after Mercy was nuked.
  • The Overwatch League is the only thing that sets how our patches are designed.
  • Match Maker has been BEYOND terrible and cannot retain player interest.
  • The new accounts are ALL smurff-alts and I have NO idea WHY people are buying second copies of this game other than because they got BANNED for something really bad.

Heck, this forum is now MORE FUN to use than playing the actual game itself. That’s really bad !!!

A movie for Detroit Become Human will be better.

That would probably be the point of a movie?
