I am mostly solo q player yes, occasioanly i group up with friends but it usualy ends up on losing or 50/50 results. Sometimes I use LFG when i want communication because EU is zone of silence in solo q.
I am usualy trying to build up viable comp. Even comp with 4 dps, rein and mercy can be viable. Depends on what enemy team is running . Not sure what padding dmg stats means. I play to win, not to have excelent stats and lose.
It really depends whats my goal with account is. I have done only mercy one trick challenge and climbed into my elo(high plat). Right now I am doing new journey here:
I started with playing heroes i dont play on main acc, right now when I am close to my elo I play a lot of my mains, and when I reach my peak I am going to switch to tanks probably, because I am not so skilled at dps to compete with diamonds.
P.S. That topic is named bronze to Gm, but it was a joke, I am just platinum right now, but I want to get better

Hardly ever.
If my 4 or 5 dps are utter trash then I’ll swap off to a damage dealer, even if I’m solo support. I can only support teams, not garbage. Sometimes it even works.
If my team are feeding like utter cretins, ignoring 20+ group up messages, then I just swap to Torb. May as well get more play time on my fave hero as we’re going down anyway.

I don’t throw however rude, annoying and stupid people can make me tilt and if that happens I find some pleasure in knowing that it’s probably easier for me to win back those SR then it is for the moron.
Hopefully you can get under his skin and trigger the person enough to make him lose a few additional games by underpeforming out of rage as punishment for being rude. With some luck you might see his name on a forum like this QQing about MM being broken.
