When did Overwatch reached its peak for you?

For me, It was when they added Mercy’s rez to the killfeed along with killing turrets and D.va’s Mech.

I didn’t want them to change anything at that point.

I’ve only just started playing overwatch in the last year, and for the majority of 2019 it’s been really bad.
But, I’ve been in the community since 2017, and it was really good back then. Overwatch had constant memes being made, the new heroes were (mostly) good, the meta wasn’t as huge of a thing, blizzard regularly balanced it, youtubers played it, people could have a laugh in competitive… I wish I played back then

About the same. Mercy and D.Va reworks were when things really went on the decline.

In terms of balance I thought around the beyblade meta wasnt too bad. It had good variety despite Ana.

After they updated kill feed icons etc wasnt bad either instead of it being skulls.

Right before season 4-5 was where the game started to decline IMO. That’s when most mercy s used hide and ress because at this point everyone knew you could abuse the SR system. You would lose less SR and gain more SR, and get to top 500 with a negative winrate. Season 5 was mercy rework and she was extremely OP, worst meta started: moth meta.
Peak was s1-s3 (season 1 was a mess though, but game was fun during this time IMO).

Before the Mercy reworks. After that it was crystal clear that all the new changes were made for OWL instead of the actual players.

I liked it until they killed Overwatch for Esportswatch.

and started balancing the game over METAs almost no one played

Late 2016, not even a question.
Anything after that has been a complete clownfest leading up to now.

Before comp mode and 1 hero limit was added.

Content wise, Retribution was probably the best thing to happen to OW.

Mid season 4 was when rampant throwing and smurfing started.

i think as soon as brig was released things started to crash. not to scapegoat her like “she’s the cause of all the game’s problems!!1!1!deletebrig” (because people say that), that’s just when it went downhill for me.

Same, things went down hill for a long time after that. Positive changes are coming through now, but it’s unlikely that they (Blizz) will undo old poorly thought out changes.

Late 2017 through early 2018. It was a six month period right after Mercy had been nerfed enough to no longer be an absolute must pick, but before Brigitte’s release. During that period all tanks saw significant playtime, with Reinhardt being the most overall played main tank. However at GM, Winston was the most picked MT at 41% and Orisa the least picked at 16%, compared to every meta since Brigitte’s release where the most popular main tank would have an 80%+ pickrate. Having varied tank line ups is important because it shows Deathball, Dive, Bunker, and Triple tank compositions were all played in significant amounts.

the game was at its peak when i first joined, so… december of 2018.

As soon as they started with OWL.

when I joined.
the time when I could play symmetra 2.0
it was SO fun.

For me it was around just before Brigs release. She was not a huge cause of frustration (for me) it’s just grabbing a time point, but the community really felt like it started getting waaay too “toxic” and careless, and not in the fun careless way but the “I literally don’t care about your fun I’m not having fun so I’m going to ruin your fun” kind of way.

A few weeks before Mercy’s rework. That was when they actually fixed the SR issue and I could actually enjoy Comp.

Before GravDragon and double sniper condemned us to a constant war of burst, sustain, shielding and one shots.
