I am a Widow main, but it feels like I never get to play her. I know in Comp she really isn’t much but how am I supposed to get better at my main if I don’t play her??? Plus with the amount of characters like Rein,Reaper,Solider,Sigma, etc, that can basically ruin her day. Like every game has a shield tank, and with double shields, it’s impossible to hit anybody her?? I’m not bad, but it’s impossible to play!! What can I do??

she is only really good on a few maps now. the 175 hp change made her vulnerable/weak on a lot of maps now imo

Into other hitscans and projectile heroes who arent dive.
All of these by themselves arent bad at all.
All of these you shouldnt die to unless your really low health or out of position.
Sigma can be annoying if you arent playing back far enough because he can pressure u and put a shield in your face.
The things not to play widow into is more
Winston, DVA, Ball, Tracer, Genji, Sombra, Doomfist, Brigitte?, Lucio?, Hanzo? (If hes better Hanzo is bad to play into), Widowmaker (Quite obviously its a bad idea to play into a better widowmaker.)
The ones with question marks you can play into but they are like abit annoying.

It’s annoying you get hate for playing your main. Widow…, feels you need to be constantly performing and getting shots to warrant being allowed to stay on her… but as soon as you go quiet the hate starts. I feel your pain

Id make an alt account and play widow only in comp see what rank you get placed if your preforming at that rank they arent going to complain and once you get to your main elo on widowmaker only you can play widowmaker on your main because it means you can play widowmaker effectively to that elo.
If your a diamond player or whatever playing a silver widowmaker skill level people are going to get angry obviously.
Another option is play quickplay till you have about 50 hrs on her otherwise would suggest more but I think 50 hrs on a character is pretty solid to begin playing with them in ranked

turn off text chat til the match is done and disable vc unless you’re with people you trust not to be flaming dbags
more often than not, randos are hardly much better than you and will make you the scapegoat of their inability to perform. i’ve lost count of how many times the other (failing) dps will cry about me going widow while i sit there with gold elims and upwards of 55% accuracy. trying to prove yourself to them isn’t worth it, just focus on clicking heads.
warm up for at least 10 minutes in aim training lobbies
i leave when shots come easy to me and i can bounce from enemy to enemy. i also like practicing in training range while in the queue: mostly close, mid range and moving headshots as being able to do this has saved my life when a flanker (genji, tracer etc) jumps at me.

you don’t always have to be on high ground
for me, the qualifiers for good widow positions is if the enemy can’t spot you easily, but you can spot them. off angles, high ground, far back - sometimes places that fall under all of these. my greatest shots have been in some low ground corner where the enemy doesn’t expect me to be. of course this depends on your playstyle (aggro vs defensive) and what you’re comfy with!
move when you need to
after i’ve gotten a couple of kills i assume the other team has figured out where i’m at and find somewhere else that isn’t more obvious. i also do this when the opposite team has a sigma that shoves a barrier in my face. breaking it is a waste of time and ammo, so i find somewhere else to snipe from. if i wait a bit the sigma has hopefully forgotten about me (has more critical threats to deal with) so i don’t have to worry about being denied

p.s: i recommend these videos for figuring out movement, positioning, playstyles and aim:
they won’t make you perfect, but i found dealing with more heroes as widow easier after watching.

Not to mention the nerf of her grappling hook back to its original 12 seconds. So combined with 25 less hp, you have a hero that is so vulnerable to anything that can get close to her that she can only really be played on maps that have the farthest sightlines.
That or you’re a god who can flick headshot Tracers at pointblank range with ease.

do you think that sniper shouldn’t have been in tf and the sniper rifle shouldn’t have been in unreal tournament?
can practice her in quickplay can also play w/e you want in comp don’t let people bully you into playing something you don’t want to play

For one if you’re barely staring off to learn widow I wouldn’t suggest playing her in comp, second play QP or even QPC, you’ll get some good practice from that and don’t rely so much on widow headshots, reason being is cause not all hero have the same bubble as widow so try getting used to the others bubble especially if you’re playing widow on console this plays fair to that, and hands down just keep practicing, also about who you go up against, double shield etc. Try and focus mostly on squishies and if anything you can always wear down shields from a far with 100% until shield breaks and or if they drop shields

OW draws inspiration from both these games, even if the sequel aims to be much faster paced/brawl-centric
why does widow not belong? what about her design is incompatible with this game?
