When are you going to balance tanks properly?

The state of tank in this game is absolutely absurd. You’ll never win a fight against a tank unless you’re 3v1 or better. It’s making this game incredibly unfun, and it just feels like absolute garbage to play.

Fix your game Blizzard. FIX YOUR GAME. For the love of Kaplan.

Tanks are supposed to tank. Deal with it.

If you want nerfed tanks give us 6 v 6

When are you going to realize both of these statements are Open Queue logic.

  • Equal Impact per Hero
  • Equal Impact per Role

And that stopped being relevant half a decade ago.

(And it wasn’t even that useful back then either, because it did nothing to stop GOATs)

it’s not possible to balance tanks properly as long as there’s only one tank on each team.

If we use that logic then tanks arent supposed to dps, thats what the dps role is, so we should nerf their damage

Can’t have it both ways

Equal Impact per Hero didn’t work that well for 6v6 Role Queue either.

Hence why we got 5v5

It amazes me how many people think there should be an FPS game, where only 33% of the players go after kills.

And 66% just stand around and help that 33%.

6v6 role queue only failed because they stopped updating the game for two years.

Dude, I spent more time analzyling that very specific issue than everybody in Top500 combined.

And nah.

The whole thing was a near paradox, and the solutions to deal with it, would have had dramatic downsides.

That said, if they go with 6v6 Open Queue, with 2-6-2 Role Limits. We’ll have to see. Could be great.

The biggest grievance I heard was the double shields. They already fixed that with the Orisa rework, they just could’ve done that OR split main tank and off tank into separate roles. OW2 has problem arcs bigger than one piece arcs. The only thing I don’t miss from there is DPS doomfist

With respect, you saying you did analysis doesn’t hold much weight.

The only problem with 6v6 role queue was that they gave up on actually trying to update the game, which made the meta get stale.

if we use your logic then support aren’t supposed to do dps.

so?

And they dont…

When do supports ever have 10-15k damage like dps and tank consistently do?

Supports usually end a match with 3-5k damage unless you play a hero like moira & just spam nothing-damage that makes no difference all game

Supports barely even contribute to a teams damage total.

Just watched an ml7 vid to make sure i wasnt insane. Top level ana on his best hero, ~4k damage.

there were disproportionally less tank players than everything else….a content drought affects everybody and shouldn’t cause one role to disproportionally lose more players

It wasn’t because of the drought

It’s because of how unattractive the role is

Same as now (the only reason they’re considering altering the formula again)

The chief problem with overwatch, as it is in just about any game that has a “tank” role, is getting people to enjoy tanking

What does “balanced tanks” look like?

I’ve only ever heard awful ideas, so please give a good one

In the last two years of OW1 that’s correct. That was because they stopped updating the game and left the tank role in a stale state.

They left all three roles in a stale state….why were tanks impacted more?

Punching bags with a needle as a weapon, that’s what people expect

Because they had so few options. At the end of OW1 there were eight tanks for two people to pick from.

One of the reasons DPS has consistently been the most popular role is that they have the most options and flexibility in the number of heroes to pick from.

And yet that wasn’t an issue for supports

People don’t enjoy just being a shield…ow is not the only game with this issue

Why they changed the role up and required less of them…now they’re having the same issue for a different reason (counterpicking impact from having only 1)
