When are we getting the LFG back?

If there’s one thing that I want back from Overwatch 1 that the developers removed, it’s not the borders, stat cards, lootboxes, etc.; it’s the LFG feature they added back in mid-2018.

I genuinely want this feature back, and since its removal with the launch of Overwatch 2, my overall Overwatch experience has felt lackluster.

Do you want to make a sweaty stack? Do you want to just chill and play casual with players who use their mics? Do you just want to make some friends who play the same game as you? Do you just want to have fun and socialize while playing? Do you want to find a player who will synergize well with your playstyle?

These are the things the LFG was used for. I mean, really, it was just a social feature built into the game at its core, and I know that there were a lot of players who didn’t use it, but I can assure you that there were a ton of players who did use it, such as myself.

The LFG actually became a core part of my Overwatch experience; it’s primarily how I played the game. I’d log on and surf through the LFG until I found a group that matched my interests at that time, and that’s pretty much how I played and enjoyed the game.

I don’t know why the developers removed the LFG, but I’d like it to return. When I heard it was getting removed back then, I didn’t think much of it, probably because I was under the assumption that all the old features were going to be replaced with new ones, so I guess I just didn’t care or mind, but then Overwatch 2 released and the LFG, of course, wasn’t there, and I noticed it immediately, and ever since its removal, the game just hasn’t felt the same for me, so please bring it back.

Also, a little sidenote: that little game mode that the developers made recently where you were only able to queue if you had full five stacks—yeah, that mode would have definitely benefited from the LFG, and you know, maybe players could’ve played it if they had access to the LFG. That’s all I’m saying.

I was thinking about that today as well. I remember the good old days oF LFG I used to play a lot more comp back in the day.

Funny how we now pay more money for a product that has less value.

Did your groups also join those custom “tiny Overwatch” lobbies only to get decimated in a corner?

Cant have something back that never really existed in the first place. Unless you mean that thing that was haphazardly tossed into the game, which only existed to organize deranking and boosting groups.

Don’t feel bad, Blizzard will bring back that OW1 feature 1 year from now as an update. You know how useless they are.

What do you mean by "never existed? Even if the overall percentage of players who used it was small, there were still hundreds of genuine groups using the feature for what was intended.

Also, I won’t pretend like I haven’t seen some not-so-great questionable lobbies within the feature because I definitely have, but to say that it “never existed” and it was just a boosting feature or whatever is completely disingenuous.

Ah, yes, the classic Blizzard/Activision innovation. Well, hey, we can’t forget about what they’ll be charging us for this new “innovative feature.”

Blizzard 2024: So that’ll be just $20 per group.

My best games ever were from LFG groups. For starters you can set the level of endorsement, check profiles, and form your own perfect groups.

Exactly. OW1 had bad (rigged) matchmaking, but you could sort of overcome things via LFG. Sure, there were toxic groups and sure, near the lowpop/offhours it was ded or degenerate. All things solvable with better incentives (for using LFG) and other QoL changes.

We were told LFG 2.0 was going to be a thing, but they canned that development timeline in favour of role-lock, because that’s what the crybaby streamers wanted.

Most of those guys (streamers) are so out-of-touch with regular solo queue experience as someone who’s skill caps out at plat/dia. They always do x-to-GM and/or they always hit up the bnet friendslist of other nolife GM players for their matches.

The game is already totally depersonalizing and alienating without open profiles, progression borders, actual ranks that are transparent and not fake, comms, etc.

LFG so desperately needed to be part of OW2 but it was stripped away as part of a scam to make you so bored and unfun that you would click the store instead of trying to take the MM into your own hands (somewhat).

This is just plain false. Also, nothing is stopping these players from doing that exact thing outside of the game. If they don’t 6 stack and throw then theyre throwing solo or buying bronze accounts.

I will never understand this argument. If the game isn’t fun then I’m definitely not buying anything. Why would I buy things for a game I don’t want to play.

I can’t believe there isn’t an LFG.

People bought OW1 for a online player experience equiped with social features and tools to interact and leverage other human interactions.

We PAID for that feature and it’s still GONE. They LIED and STOLE from us.

The devs don’t want you to have fun. They want you to spend money.

I also miss the LFG.

Disgusting what direction Team4 has taken.
Shameful, unethical, and hopefully one day it will be viewed as criminal.
Special place in hell for those who rig the game on kids and cater to content shadowmarketing partners.

I don’t really play Overwatch anymore and I’d say the #1 reason is the removal of LFG. Pleeeeease bring it back. Otherwise, my days with OW are over.

Solid necro.

LFG was a massive waste of time

Nah, it needs to be reimplemented. Trying to keep hope alive.

I loved being able to search for groups that specifically stated “18+” or “21+” or “420 friendly” so I could play with like-minded players and avoid having to play with squeakers.
