all i am saying is. if we control the point and you burned all your cooldowns.
you running forward into their entire team is not something a support can save you from. if i walk behind you i get hit with all the spam that happens to miss you and die in two seconds. you need to go in with your cooldowns, and after giving your dps and sups time to set up on an off angle.
it is your job to preserve your own life. it is not creating space if your team can’t use it without dying.
More people do need to be willing to push and make plays, especially between fights. The biggest difference I see between high rank players and average ones is that good players know when to press the advantage and run down kills or engage early. Average players want to just sit on the objective/choke, let the other team group up, and wait for them to push.
Wait, isn’t that normal?
I thought it was supposed to be part of the tank experience.
You know, the tank engages, the two DPS are “flanking” (meaning running away).
One of the support tries to follow a DPS because they still believe.
And one support stays in place, just facepalming.
As opposed to everyone pushing to enemies spawn and… either everyone dies (yikes) or win the fight but no one pushed the payload, so it was all for nothing (even bigger yikes)…
I wouldn’t even blame tanks, it’s just horrible situations 1-2-2 pushes forward…
No idea what could be the fix, tbh.
Some people don’t want 5v5 Open Queue, others don’t want 6v6 to be the standard again… Maybe reworking all tanks into DPS heroes and have only two roles… ? I don’t know…
What I suggested a few days ago was a rework to Escort / Hybrid which are the game modes that suffer from what you just described, the most.
Yup. I try to go to the next point in Anubis, Ana says her nano is ready, so I go, die and everyone is in the back. Other time I have Widow saying I don’t “make space”. Who am I gonna make this space for, the two snipers who won’t follow me, especially seeing as we’re on defense?
I have the opposite problem most time, some just stay in a safeish position tanking everything and trying to dps from afar with no intention of pushing whatsoever, but it is scary when you are the only tank and don’t know for sure if your sups are decent or maybe occupied somewhere else. I’m a sup main and i tend to go closer to the tank and start slowly pushing cause that way they have to protect me and go forward. Of course im not trying to feed tho, just a lil nudge.
But what a delight it is to play with a balanced tank between offensive and defensive
It’s not just tanks though, had a lot of games yesterday where players on my team would just sit back away from the capture point to try and get a kill, while I am there sitting on the empty point capturing it when the enemy team come flying onto the point while my team are still sitting way back just for that 1 kill.
When I play as Tank I do not push so far ahead that supports and DPS cannot be helpful, just don’t be a Hammond and roll right into 5 of the enemy team and expect to saved from miles away.
I used to be a tank main before I just flexed every match and you’re half right.
Yes, the team needs to push with the tank when they are pushing. Otherwise you’re going to be hard pressed to make progress.
But if you have point or choke or a good position and the tank pushes without need or reason then the rest of the team definitely should not just give up the objective to rush in and die next to the tank.
I’d rather my team play smart, not be superglued to each others hip and taking every unnecessary teamfight at the cost of the objective
Preach.
Solo q, master match. Team gets two quick picks without much resources. Me and dps instantly starts walking to get stagger kills, potentially los the spawn door. Its all fine since a quick widow pick can’t ohk the tank anyway. Whole team takes map controll and then the enemy have to waste time taking it back.
Alt account or random bf qp game, same scenario.
50/50 they want to take map control or just sit there on point spamming fall back and emoting. Like the enemy tank is dead, they’re down a dps. The map is wide open and literally nothing can hurt you the next 10s. Why are they standing around like they still control their part of the map?
Yeah far too many times have I advanced with a 2k only to get 3v1’d while my team literally WATCHED me die from the choke. Be that Genji that will deflect for a CC’d tank, be that Illari that takes the 1v1 on the flank, be Junkrat that deflects a Rein charge with a mine. Make your own plays while I’m suffering for you please. And sometimes spare an ability or two to help me out. All I ask.
