Idk if you guys already noticed, but Echo has I-frames during transformation into a hero that she wants to duplicate.
Is this intentional? Because I really think it shouldnt be. For most other heroes if they undergo a transformation of some sort (dva calling her mech down for example), if they get slept or stunned during that time, their ult is cancelled.
Even Meis Snowball just disappears midair when she casts her ult and it gets interrupted. Any of you guys know anything?
Anyhows, just wanted to bring this to attention

Doublication. My new favorite word.
Ye sorry mate english aint my mothertongue.
any input on the actual topic?
It’s a trade-off so the enemies can react to what is happening and who is getting duplicated in good time.

Welp, it was intentional
Ptr had it, and I don’t really feel like it’s bad, but taking in consideration her kit. Yeah, it’s kinda bad
To be honest, I wouldnt quite mind it as much if she would die when she dies as a clone. That would be sick. Imagine killing the hero and the hero is dead.
I could see the I-frames being a buff so she doesnt get picked all the time while transforming, I mean, it would make sense then since she has to get all close and personal but with the way it is right now? Its… its bad. One could just drop into the enemy team and hit Q and boom, second life, other character, ult charges like mad and if you die, oh well, you can always get out because youre not actually dead and all your abilities arent on CD anymore
She is unable to move during that time, which generally sucks, so I’m glad the i-frames make up for that. But yeah, how about some i-frames for Bastion when transforming into tank mode?
why give him I-frames during his transformation? He doesnt have to get up close and personal with LoS to an enemy hero if he wants to transform now, does he?
ETA: “the i-frames make up for that” make up for what? If she could die completely if the duplicate dies, I could see where youre coming from. Then either movement or i-frames would make sense. But she doesnt, so they dont. Not to me at least. And I personally dont think she needs some sort of “safety net” if she effs up her ult. Thats just on the player then.
D.Va doesnt get i-frames.
I think they shouldn’t have the i frames. You want to activate your ult. You stay behind a barrier or flank. Can McCree ult in the open, no.
It’s to factor in the game locking the hero select while Echo changes.
I feel it’s intentional so while Echo does stall out, her team can’t switch out to stall as well leading to a higher chance for a snowball effect like on 2cp.
It also gives enemies time to react to her changing so once she comes out as the new character you can focus her down.
Your own ability making you stand still just sucks. Plus you yourself brought up being up close and personal, Echo does that a fair few times depending on who she wants to duplicate.
Take away the i-frames, fine, but then let her move while casting it.
I wouldn’t care about that. Function like McCree, done.
hmmm I get what youre saying but… Pharah? her ult makes her stand still. Junkrat too? McCree got extremely limited movement. None of those get i-frames either.
And yes, of course i brought that up. But she still doesnt need i-frames. If she were sent back to respawn if her dupe died, then i would get it. But it doesnt. If nothing else, her ult heals her up completely and resets her CDs. I think thats plenty already.
I stand by my point that I-frames arent needed. If she gets CC’d during her ult-casting, it should be cancelled. ALSO, on another note: she can dupe from a mile away above the enemies. Thats… thats also something to consider.
