What's the worst change the balancing team made

As a single thing, it’s torn between the dps passive existing and the season 9 changes that increased bullet/projectile sizes.

Dps passive because they’re too stubborn to nerf the problematic heroes like ana, bap and kiri. Season 9 because the vast majority of projectile sizes didn’t need any buffs. Maybe one or two heroes I could be convinced needed a slight increase, but most were fine. Hitscan absolutely did not need any sort of buff given they’ve always been too dominant

Weaver isn’t to be underestimated either. Though, it’s not so much the burst value, as it is the absolute consistency of his burst.

Before S9, over any other Support hero, I found Weaver the most annoying, because there is basically no margin for error whatsoever. It’s just this feeling that people just get healing from nowhere, similar to Brig packs.

That one bastion patch where he could survive an entire hanzo ult with just self healing. It was got fixed for pc but console had it for 2-4 weeks and it was hell. Ironclad bastion was a bad one.

Do you actually mean incompetent? Because to me the developer team coherently explains what they are doing, it’s just that they tend to be doing very stupid things because they incompetent people.

Assuming we are not counting new hero releases, then the mercy 2.0 patch. Made her a must pick for nearly a whole year.

Whenever they decided to powershift tanks to make the game “faster paced”. I feel like that was the beginning of the bad choices for Overwatch, and I want to make an essay like youtube video explaining why.

Basically, Overwatch was conceived to be a specific kind of game. Forcing the game to be faster naturally throws the game out of wack, but that’d be fine if people liked it. So do they? Well, on here at least, I’d say no. People complain about dying faster, tanks like Sigma and supports like Bap EXPLICITLY had to be invented to protect people from dying extremely fast and the situation hasn’t improved since.

People may remember that I sometimes have a low opinion of Overwatch players. And that’s because I saw people smugly claiming the game would be better if it was faster, and when it was made faster, they went “What!? I’m dying extremely fast!? Why!?”

I’d love to go back to slower games. Everything feels too fast now and because of it the staggering majority of games are a stomp. I guess part of me also misses 2cp maps like anubis because they were fun to play, even when your team wasn’t as good; still fun to try and burn through defenders for a chunk of time saved

The dps passive is the only good change from season 9, tanks never died before the passive, and pocketing was more broken

Tanks don’t die now either, but it’s because the dps passive is only 15% against tanks and they have headshot reduction, should be 20% with no headshot reduction.

Mercy should be 50-55hp/s, Ana should be 70hp per shot, why the dps passive is 30%

There’s been so many I can’t even begin to list them all

Brig’s release.

Buffing Tracer AND the DPS passive at the same time.

Neither needed a buff.

Nerfing Hogs damage by 50% and giving D.VA micro missiles back in 2017, which lead to 2 years of non-stop dive and the creation of Brig as a butterfly effect result.

What’s funny is that I’ve started playing Overwatch more because of the change to 2, but Overwatch 1 had the problem of no replay loop since they kept adding heroes but not fixing the gameplay, and this is coming from someone who’s played since 2016 but i rather play this than br games or….cod :face_vomiting:

Those two made me lose all hope for reworks. Hog especially… like with Sombra I think you can say “meh you had to see it in play to realize how bad it is”, but Hog is so obviously bad. So much more boring to play and playing against him is literally the same. It did nothing whatsoever.

Whoever approved that rework shouldn’t have that job anymore, sorry :space_invader:

re the thread:

  1. OW2, not because of 5v5 but because it started the whole passive-thing (support passive mainly at that point, DPS passive later)
  2. S9

Edit: I’m impressed how almost unanimous the S9 disdain is. I feel like it wasn’t this unanimous before. At least not way back when it was relatively fresh.

Literally, the people saying season 9 is bad now are the same people who gave me a hard time when I knew it was a garbage change from the start.

hp/hitboxes, Overwatch had the best TTK pre season 9

Done, nothing changed, there is no such thing as a balance team (I refuse to believe it)
