- I honestly think its because people are scared to lead.
- They can be a bit boring when compared to dps or even support.
- Having the entire game on your shoulders is a lot of pressure and dealing with the * you suck tank* comments is a total turn off.
Either way please make the next hero a tank lol that way we always have one being picked!

Tanks don’t even have to lead, and in fact shouldn’t. They should be watching their team and inferring where they need to be from that. DPS actually leads even when they are technically positioned behind.
Tanks are similar to supports in that their role is to enable DPS.

As a GM tank main, I don’t agree with this. Tanks are needed to enable dps, but they’re almost always the initiators. You need to be the one in front, leading the attack. That doesn’t mean you need to be the shot-caller (a support is usually best at that), but ultimately it’s the tank who decides where to engage, when to engage, and how to engage. It’s up to the DPS to follow the tanks in.

We are using different definitions of the word lead. You’re not wrong we just aren’t talking about the same thing.
A cart attendent/cashier at a store are the ones out front and visible, but you wouldn’t confuse them as leading the store. Same with tanks in Overwatch.
Off tanks have some form of independence since they can do stuff on their own, but the main tanks really need a team around them and as I’m sure you know, that isn’t very common. Unless a Rein is in a duo with a Mercy or Lucio, generally there is not enough coordination for him to do his thing like he’d want to.
Look at OWL, Cocco plays like this and he’s on the bench, this is not how you play tank. Your job is to take space for your DPS do they can do there job.
I don’t like it because I play too aggressively - which works as a tank if you have your team push with you. Most people aren’t aware enough with that team mentality to do so unless you’re in comp…hopefully. But then in comp, I don’t want to endure the hate that would come from a failed push on my part as the tank.
I play a lot of support, which has made me very aware of my teammates, but when I switch to the tank role, I’m usually highly disappointed in my teammates lack of awareness. Plus, I just don’t find them as fun. I like high output characters - snipers or burst heals. Landing an awesome shatter or d.va ult is nice, though. I get good gravs on Zarya but that also is up to the team to utilize it…very frustrating to land a grav and no one kills anything (even though I checked to see people’s ults and if they were nearby before throwing it…and spamming that i have my ult ready).
KyKy also has no clue how to coach.
I main Tanks so I don’t know either. For me Tank is the best role in Overwatch.
When i say lead i mean going first lol not actually leading the team I’ve seen so many tanks who simply will not take the front lines. Personally i want to get into the tank class a bit more and its pretty much why i made this post.
FPS games usually involves everyone to eliminate all of the enemy team to win, using weapons; mainly firearms.
Players would naturally transition their past FPS experience to the next FPS game which happens to be Overwatch. But Overwatch happens to be a FPS game that requires teamwork to win rather than individual FPS skills using unique characters that focus less on kills and more on supporting/protecting the team. It’s seen to be boring to players who only play mainly to get kills in FPS games.
My playstyle/mindset doesn’t really work with the ‘‘lead the team/make space’’ thing a tank has to do. I play them sometimes and it can be fun, but I don’t think I could be a good tank.
My playstyle is more around high aiming heros like ana, mccree and hanzo
But anyway i like to play zarya on some matchs…
(Im not saying that no high aiming skills heros dont need skills. I cant play reinhart or winston on a decent ranks).
Only two tanks are designed to do that, Reinhardt and Winston. Everyone else functions in a different way. So most tanks aren’t suppose to lead.
True, but Cocco has been considered a weak tank for a long time now. Envyus was only better than the mid-tier apex teams and was placed in easier groups by either luck of group fixing to maximise western viewership.
Kyky is a complete joke at this point, the entire Dallas fuel management is, I’d compare them to the Sacramento Kings in basketball.
Ain’t that the truth haha
Tank heavily relies on your team to do their job so you can live and do yours.
Whole Hogging a dead tracer or genji body is wonderful
Very true, cocco isn’t a top tier tank, especially in OWL. But compared to taimou he’s like a gesture or fissure lol. Taimou is a great DPS player but a poor tank player. KyKy really did a good job destroying the Dallas fuel. Hopefully they can bounce back in the future.
