I see everyone’s pissed at the patch notes, which can be understandable. But like, is nobody going to mention the completely useless Mercy “buff” ?
Like, what’s the point of it ? I mean I’m not against it at all, but what will it do ? How is it supposed to be helpful ? Why did they decide to add that ? I simply don’t understand

I guess if you’re alone and defend yourself you can safely fly back to your team?

We’d rather not talk about that absolutely shameful display of stupidity of giving the thing with a 1.5 second cooldown that can only be used to fly to allies a reset only in Valkyrie where she’s most mobile and least likely to have ga on cooldown in a duel

Yes, but Mercy was already boring and bad since all she could do was follow a DPS around with dmg boost and peel for the real main healer. But your assumption is probably correct.
Its one of those quality of life changes that doesn’t do much, but doesn’t hurt to add into the game. I still wish I knew why it was suggested in the first place. Certainly, of all the changes to possibly make why something like that? it wasn’t even explained in conversation.
I definitely agree Mercy can be low-octane, but they really forced her to be a pocket-bot with all the post-rework nerfs. Idk how they could even rework Mercy to be more of a main healer and less of a pocket bot at this point, but I’m sure they’ll never address the underlying causes of why she is the way she is and either give her weird, niche changes like this that could never possibly ever be useful, or just flat number changes for the rest of her existence.
There is nothing in her design that says you HAVE to stick to one person and one person only. People have fooled themselves into believing that’s the optimal way to play the character. Sure enough, top 500 level mercy players hit 8-10k healing/10min and 1000-2000dmg bst/10min done clearly showing they don’t have the pure pocket idea as they think. No one person is going to be taking 8k damage in 10 minutes with just a hard pocket.
When I play Lucio I’m pretty much a pocket bot for Reinhardts. It just so happens other people get the AOE benefits if they stick around the REin as I do.
If I am Ana and our flank DPS are not in LoS gets who’s getting all the healing? Pocket the reinhardt? Why? He’s the one taking all the damage. Single target supports always are pocketing at least one person. Its usually the person taking a ton of damage.

Let’s encourage Battle Mercy even more
The only time you should ever be pocketing as Mercy is with a flying character, and even then only if you have another strong healer. Mercy’s mobility is way too strong for you to be sitting around tethered to a Reinhardt all day.
Regarding the actual change, It’s nice… I guess. Really how often are you going to be killing people while your GA is off-cooldown?
Theres loads of suggestions, but since her pickrates were “fine” for a couple months during hitscan metas, therefore, she is “fine” even though she cant even do her job…
She is advertised to be THE HEALER of the entire franchise, but she is woefully outclassed by moira bap and ana in terms of HPS and especially their abilities to burst and AOE.
Just an outdated kit at this point, I just want Mercy to be able to heal tanks again. Too many times a Mercy pops valk and everyone just dies outright and I see the mercy shamefully fly back to spawn to regroup
It only resets during Valk though. Popping it alone is a waste.
“Doesn’t do much” is the overstatement of the year, it is completely worthless.
