When those players can LITERALLY just make another account for free?
Explain it to me like I’m 5. I join a competitive match and one of my DPS leaves midgame intentionally. I report them. Let’s assume this isn’t their 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th report and they finally get permabanned.
They make a new account and rejoin my games a few hours later.
What is the point? Why should I even BOTHER reporting people when they can just make a new account for free? Blizzard, explain it to me without mentioning profits. Please. I’m DYING to know.
Does blizzard do hardware bans if multiple bans comes from the same IP/system? If they don’t then yeah, reporting probably does nothing.
But I haven’t seen ANY blatant cheaters at all. Maybe its different timezones/regions where its an issue. Down here in asia I haven’t seen any cheaters.
Actual players who are invested get deterred from doing ban-worthy behavior because it means losing hundreds/thousands of dollars in cosmetics and years of stats
if it’s a no lifer whos played for 3 hours ever and hacks then yeah getting banned is nothing more than a small inconvenience
IPs often have a lease from internet service providers and can change after a period of time. Hardware bans would be more effective as it would force that person to buy another pc/console or swap out thier Hardware
Oh there’s blatant cheaters-for example Jay3 has uploaded footage of them not giving a dam on his channel, and he’s spectated from their PoV to see how blatant they can be. I’ve also reported team mates who were blatantly cheating and got them banned.
Again, I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT CHEATERS OR HACKERS. They suck, but that was not the OP.
I was referring to leavers/trolls
Why should I bother reporting someone who is on their 7th account and ruining my game because they can simply just make an 8th account? Explain it to me. Please.
Someone needs to try this out to see the real results of match making. Does it really just match ANY account and not look at how fresh the account is but just the mmr and sr?
If this is the case then yeah reporting will just delay this and never solve anything.
I do it to make it a pain in the behind for them. Because if they get banned, it means they have to spend more money playing a free to play game. If they stopped acting like a braindead moron they shouldn’t need to do it.
Just report them. Inconvenience them and make them have to spend money unnecessarily because they’re acting like a childish moron. If they want to act like a moron-treat them like one.
I don’t think leaving games is actually bannable per ToS (or is it?). They just get punished by getting locked out of comp until they’re season banned.
So I mean, they would need a ton of pre-paid numbers at their disposal to make new accounts; so how many times can they really make them?
It’s time consuming to unlock heroes again on a new account and it takes several hours to unlock Competitive now, so that would be a dissuading reason to behave poorly and get banned.
A very low amount of players would keep wasting time unlocking heroes and the Competitive mode over and over again so banning is still very annoying, even for cheaters / toxic players.
The point is that it makes them waste time creating a new account as they have to provide a new e-mail as well and waste lots of hours to unlock everything from scratch.
Most toxic players somewhat care about their account (stats, skins, heroes unlocked etc…) so they wouldn’t just create new accounts all week long. I mean, there are people who would just do that but it’s a minority, statistically speaking.
When someone gets permabanned once, especially now with heroes and Competitive locked for new accounts, I think they learn their lesson. Each player that is toxic has a different story and not everyone of them is toxic each game.
I’ve never been banned in my life in an online game but I sometimes answer back to toxicity when my patience runs out (and I guess those players report me back) but it doesn’t mean I will get banned on the spot (now I simply don’t care about chat as I’m not committed to the game since the October update anymore - I just achieve my daily challenges and log off).
For someone to get banned, it takes (I guess) many reports within a very short period of time. Players that were toxic to you maybe simply allow themselves to be toxic on rare occasions (which I understand can be annoying but if we were to permaban anyone for the slighest poor behavior, the game would become a dictature and no one would invest time and / or money on it - sorry for talking about profit but that’s what it is).
They wouldn’t have the cosmetics they had before. Especially if that account was from OW1. They won’t get those things back unless they’re willing to spend a lot of money. And that doesn’t count for the limited-time items or things like icons.
