Why do people buy new accounts for this game? Is it to get a fresh SR? That can’t be true because my friend bought me an alt account and my SR on that is way lower than my main. Is it to hurt the game? Is it to make people angry? I find it illogical for someone to having an alt account for this game or any game tbh.
To play at a different rank than your main.
Why would anyone do that? Is playing on your main’s rank too hard for some people?
There are so many reasons. How about I put it this way, what is the reason to stay on one account? The only real reason is to keep your cosmetics. That should answer your question as literally everything else is a reason to have a new account.
Sometimes it’s for the novelty. I have an alt (more of my main acc now than this one) that I play on for FFA. It gives me a relatively clean career profile.
Why would you spend money on something you already have. I do not play my alt account because it’s so stupid. Why play on an account that is lower than my main? There’s no progression in OW so it makes very little sense. This isn’t WoW where the different classes offer something new. Alt in OW are just wastes of money to experience the same thing.
Exactly, progression would be a reason to stay on one account.
I am console, so alts are free. PC players play PC for a reason. They aren’t exactly smart about their money.
Well that’s why honorable PC players like me get screwed, I try playing the game legit and people with no concept of budgeting ruins integrity of the game.
I cannot deny that. The reality is people have more fun dominating lesser skill players. Even bronze players can smurf to bottom bronze to feel superior. It is pathetic.
So people can’t rank shame
I bought mine for special challenges
I have one that’s 100% pure mercy-only and zero lifetime damage
I have another one that’s 100% pure Brigitte-only
It depends.
To play with friends who are in different ranks.
To learn a new hero but they don’t think they’re good enough to do it at their main sr.
To stomp.
They find their main sr games boring and/or frustrating.
You’re a Diamond Genji, you also want to play Widowmaker in comp, but you know you’re not that good on her so you get a new account so you can play her without dropping your rank on Genji.
Play QP or suck it up and play Widow on the main account.
It’s about pride mostly. If you’ve noticed, a lot of the posters here are obsessed about rank and think QP is beneath them.
I mean I don’t care anymore, I decided to quit gaming tonight. I can’t take the pressure or stress of video games anymore. I just find it very dumb to spend money on something you already have.
Ah but you don’t already have it. It’s like saying because you own a shirt you never have to buy another one again. I am not a fan of wasting money on something you don’t really need but you don’t exactly have it. Though if the “Stress of gaming” is too much you might want ot avoid the internet all together. It’s very stressful.
Though I would say one of the main reasons people have alts is that very toxic environment. If you don’t run a private profile, and many people shame you for doing so at higher ranks. You run into the issue of “You played X, you must play X forever”.
This has happened to many people who played Reinhart or Ana. If a team needs a tank/healer and you played one in the past… you must always do so. As your play time in those hero’s goes up and up people expect/ demand you to do so. If you do anything else your “throwing”.
I’d get if there’s a difference, except there isn’t. WoW yes making a new character you get the same game but the classes are different. Whereas OW alts are just the same game.
As for leaving the internet, I won’t fully leave. But gaming is probably done with me for my life outside a return to WoW. Games are waste of time and money especially with the amount punks online.
Mainly because it is a way for folks to play the game and talk really bad. So when they are banned for their behavior. Their main account still remains. Or… their main account was banned quite a while back.
To exploit the match making, or to ban dodge.
That is it.
