They leave still if they get stomped, and now there are even fewer people for the matchmaker to work on? Why don’t you just remove the people who cause this terrible matchmaker and get better ones on board?
Imagine this on full scale. If EVERY player left games because…
I don’t like this map.
I’m losing.
I wanted a different tank.
I wanted pocketed and didn’t get it.
Literally every game would get canceled due to a lack of players.
If you queue for a game and get put into a game, you SHOULD play it through, even if it isn’t a specifically good game.
Nah people leave because they get stomped. They see an enormous divide and just give up. They do not give a crap about leaver penalty, because remaining in the match is a worse experience.
If they don’t care about the leaver penalty, it should be a higher one. Leavers SHOULD care about the penalty for leaving games that they queued for.
Yeah cause everyone loves how the broken match making in QP will dump in you a one sided stomp of a game. Granted I’ll stay till the end myself but I can understand people ditching those games.
On a side note, I instantly dip on Flash Point games.
It’s a slap on the wrist, a timeout for tilted players.
The matchmaker is far from perfect. I’ve seen some truly lopsided games. However, for a matchmaker to work it needs player data, how it is meant to gather data on player performance if people chronically leave a large percentage of their games (for mundane reasons to boot)?
The MAJORITY of this games population is low rank and has no clue why they are losing or what a stomp/skill diff even is.
People complain about others jobs and sympathize… even though the reality is not everyone is meant to do a job, no matter how much they want it.
Like you can feel that the VA’s and artists (regardless of skin price) have more talents than they could ever utilize.
You can feel the audio engineers are split, like they make amazing sounds but are awful at relaying the important ones to you.
And you can feel that the design/balance/matchmaker teams exist in a different, topsy turvy, reality, that makes no sense in our reality. lol (sorry)
But as a corporate worker, it’s really hard to find out what causes the differences, as there are layers of BS thats hard to see through, some managers get there from lying and blaming while leeching credit (making others seem worse than them cause they lack talent), others get there from self talent but suck at managing others, others get there from sucking up, exc, exc, exc…
Sometimes there is just no one else and they get the position…
So you would rather have someone on your team not having fun stay and throw the game in fear of being banned vs them being able to leave and getting backfill that will actually try?
And if it’s too high, they’ll just not play, which means fewer players, longer queues, and progressively worse match ups in a game that already has a terrible MM system.
Even if you got what you wanted, you’d still lose in the end. Even if the quitters stayed, they’d just put in enough effort to not get booted or locked out of the rewards, effectively making it a 4v5 anyway with a guy now feeding more than he’s shooting.
Blizzard only did it because they know people are fully disgusted with the system and refuse to change it. there is a handful out there that will play no matter how miserable they are.
Simple changes: Create a player performance rating. 1-20 points.
Ruleset 1 ) Divide group players and Solo Q players.
Ruleset 2 ) any account under 1-15 hours of gameplay should not be permitted in general population gameplay.
Ruleset 3 ) Any player that has left the last 5 matches within the last 60 seconds of a match should be flagged as a “no purpose leaver” - implement player performance rating. with -5 PR.
Ruleset 4 ) Any player that leaves mid-match -1.5 PR.
Ruleset 5 ) any player that leaves in overtime. - 8 PR.
There is no easy solution to this issue so Blizzard will take the same tone-deaf response as always
I’d rather players who won’t play games that don’t go their way not queue at all.
That would be great. But between the two as both will happen regardless, I prefer the baby raging loser leaves the game and gets replaced by someone with a higher MMR who wants to play the game.
No time is finite, if I queue for a game and get shafted by matchmaker or get thrown into something that I don’t want to waste my time on it’s quitting time.
They should be implementing better choices for players (gamemode/map) and a better matchmaker make the experience better so people want to stay.
If you don’t value my time by quitting games, why should anyone value yours to let you jump into new games? Look, I get it. The match maker IS a piece of junk. But leaving isn’t really helping either.
Well that’s not how that works.
In QP as long as you leave during the initial timer, you can leave to avoid many of these reasons. Anything after the hero select timer is considered leaving. So you CAN dodge maps, tank picks you don’t like, DPS combos you don’t like, if you didn’t get your hero, etc.
How not? If I decide “I don’t care about your fun.” Why would you care about mine?
Well, the leavers are clearly snowflakes who need special coddling not required for the rest of the playerbase. Their time is more valuable than mine.
They literally say “I threw games to avoid leaving”
