The point is to make the enemy team all look at you and gun you down or have a DVA fly in your face before you can do anything.

I pretty much just use it to solo ult people. Flankers specifically

You don’t have any falloff when ulting, so you can beam people down at any range instead of most ranges.

You can use Soldier’s ult as a get out of jail free card in numerous ways.
Widow shooting you? You can shoot her and strafe for free to get her off of her position, or kill her.
Genji ulting? Ult at him. You’ll force him to focus you or die. Even if he reflects you, he won’t be killing your team which is a net positive.
Ball trying to get cheeky? Ult at him. Even if you don’t kill him, you ruined whatever advantage he had in the moment.

Its better at further ranges because it doesnt have damalge fall off other than that if your aim is pristine theres no point in using it especially if your not nanoed or dmg boosted.
Another good one is tracer annoying tracer? You ult and she wont be peaking untill that ults over.

there is a point now… theres no fall off damage when you ult…
also before that patch you usually tend to want to ult when theres no shield and a dva is out of mech to kill stuff faster then you can normally do it

thx I dint know about his fal of but I think the risk being on open with 20 dmg per bullet
is not worth it especially when other team have wido or ashe.
Now that it doesn’t have falloff damage, it can be really annoying at long ranges such as across the objective on Busan’s Meka Base map
but what’s point if other team have hnzo and widow plus any shield or just hide behind wall (counter way that work with every hero) .
its high risk ult with low reward and easy to counter it

the fact they give him yellow color when he ulting so you can see him more easily is laughable.

Unless all you do is shoot tanks, or your enemies are really dumb and mostly standing still, you probably dont have good enough aim to consistently do better. Even pros and some of the highest ranking players still use visor from time to time, particularly for smaller targets.
But on top of that, you have no fall off damage, and can instantly acquire (start shooting at) a new target after it kills someone without the need to adjust your aim. Both are super valuable.

People will have trouble being consistency all game, especially during chaotic fights. So his ult let you focus on adad strafing while still hitting shots.
