What's intrinsically wrong with 5v5 specifically for ow

I finally figured out what has been bugging me about 5v5. It is a feeling unique to ow2 that once we’ve lost our tank in the battle we should turn and run, jump off the map or throw ourselves at the enemy to avoid being staggered. At least with 6v6 I had optimism that our second tank could hold out. OW2 is more of a one first pick type of game nowadays.

I’m not sure why you feel like that unless your team is failing to pressure anyone on the enemy team at the same time

As DPS or Support I am regularly pressuring the enemy and often getting kills. Typically this gives my team a good shot to win the fight even if our tank dies

Well I think this is one of the reasons 5v5 feels faster paced and more fluid. A good play changes the battle lines. OW1 in comparison was like trench warfare.

Don’t remind me about the trenches :skull_and_crossbones:

It’s only really bad on specific parts of some the maps though.
Like the second point in Gibraltar where Attackers only have 4 points of entry from their spawn which are literally doors, meanwhile Defenders have the entire area to themselves.

2CP maps are easily the worst because of this. They just need to make more open areas like Esperanca and Busan, and not glorified hallways like Route 66 or Havana.

Idk how anyone can think like this. I constantly win fights with only one or two people alive. Ow2>Ow1 any day

Ive literally been saying this since the old experimental card came out years ago with 1 tank

That’s also the problem, you lose your tank and everyone has to back up or risk staggers/chain feeding. It’s alot more snowball-like than 6v6 so yea fluid I guess

In a 5v5 fight when your team loses someone, your team have short window to get a response pick. If they don’t, the 5v4 advantage begins to to snowball. If the fight goes 5v3 or worse, time to cut out or die.

Why are these scenarios always like “the day was lost, the payload was at our capture, but our off-tank returned from his flanking expedition and single-handedly held the line while reinforcements made the arduous trek from the spawn gates”?

It depends, sometimes retreating is the right move. Sometimes you can stall them with just 4 of you until the tank gets back, though it risks staggering. And sometimes you should just go all in and either take back the advantage or everyone dies together.

Games are still winnable when the tank goes down, as long as your actually do something of importance. Both teams should be well a worn by the engagement. If not a pick or two already happened.

Like remember all, focus the supports and dps first. Killing one of those is a lot quicker then the tank.
