I legit wish I could disable it, or even hide it. I have no idea what level anything is, because I just want to get through the screen as fast as possible. Part of this is due to playing a lot of Mystery heroes, and it seems useless for that, I don’t want to know my stats for the Lucio I played for a grand total of 30 seconds at the end of the game

It just doesn’t feel like much of anything, like random numbers/stats with no significance. The borders felt much more personal, since seeing someone with a high-level border was rare and it looked cool.

If hero progression was more visually interesting or stuck out more, I’d feel more pride in having a higher level.

Also it makes navigating my career profile slightly more annoying, since it shows up by default and I have to change to time played to see the stats I care about. If you could pin up to 3 hero progressions to your profile for example, it’d be a cool way to show off the heroes you main quickly on your profile.

It takes too long to level up roly.

Got to level 74 yesterday.

Slowly making progress. Nearly halfway there to 200

Meaningless. You don’t even get boxes for leveling up so what is the point?

True, there are little to no enticing rewards for hero progression. Honestly something like a weapon effect could be really cool, like a black smoke effect on the tip of your weapon at lv 50, and a white version at level 100 for example. Seeing it as you play the hero you’ve worked hard to progress would make it a lot more meaningful.

I think it would be a nice little minigame of sorts, but they completely invalidated any value the moment they decided to:

  1. Not apply any past progression towards the values. As someone who’s played since OW1 beta, my progression numbers now feel totally useless and inaccurate.
  2. Not applying stats from all game modes.

I play a considerable amount of Total Mayhem, and while I understand the stats in that mode are grossly inflated because of what it is, I don’t really care. The progression levels aren’t serving a real purpose - they dont give you battle pass XP… they dont unlock anything… so why take unnecessary steps just to effectively ruin/negate my experience?

If they’re so worried about the levels making sense, they forgot about hero mastery. I have a friend who literally just idles in hero mastery to inflate his progression level on those heroes. The whole system is meanginless.

The rewards are pointless for veterans at least for the first tens of levels(I have all of the PFPs already).

The grind is ridiculously slow and gated (why can I only get 1 bar in a metric even if I did something particularly well?).

The outcome is just a # you can quote at people.

Not a fan.

Overwatch 1 was better, it rewarded casual play and didn’t feel intrusive like OW2
