So I’m going to go out and say, most real Symmetra players/mains dislike the rework, as the only people that I see who enjoy her have less than 8 hours on her.
So…
What went wrong?
A Whole New Kit
Sym kept nothing from her old kit other than turrets once their set up. Basically, it’s not Symmetra, it’s just a hero that looks like Symmetra and has comparable abilities to her. I mean sym 3.0’s kit is more simular to Zaraya then sym 2.0
Reputation
Symmetra literally has the worst reputation out of any hero (other than maybe bastion). No one wants a Symmetra, no one needs her. Be honest, you’d rather have a normal dps then Symmetra. Shes not bad anymore but people kinda just remember that she was bad.
Bugs And QOL
Symmetra has some of the worst bugs and possibly among some of the worst when it comes to QOL. Symmetra has bugs that make her weaker, railings, auto destroy, the tick speed bug (patched). Not to mention Symmetra can’t react to anything, she just has to predict what’s going to happen and prepare. everything has charge time.
So that’s what I believe went wrong, feel free to voice your opinion.
I would personally like to see her abilities sped up. Her TP needs to deploy a lot faster imo so her (and her team) can move quickly and thus have a surprise advantage.
I personally think if they fixed the bugs and sped her up greatly on her abilities, she would be in a better place and probably viable on certain maps for specific strategies. But I don’t think she will ever be viable for ALL maps. That might be a pipe dream.
I’d be fine with her tele setup speed if it wasn’t tied to a CD. Make it last indefinitely so it can promote more mobility options, like making a roaching TP so non-mobile heros can access high ground whenever, up until the tele is destroyed.
Remove her “interact” key or allow it to be binded on other keys, like melee (aka my 3rd mouse button), as it just seems so pointless and doesn’t feel useful enough. Just add a new “consent” way for her tele.
Nerf her secondary fire, buff her primary. Simple fix to her being sucky in close range but OP with her ballspam.
Counter complaints and not being a healer on the support roster. The thing is developers never explored much in that category outside of healing. Symemtra had a unique purpose, but for this game they can’t afford any other creativity besides healing going into support.
This rework is a hit’n’miss in my opinion. The good things are her throwable turrets and teleporter. Like, imagine these on 2.0. Oh dam.
One may argue that her orbs are too, but I prefer piercing orb over these. If they wanted to give her a range option they could alter her small orbs to fill this need. You know, since small orbs were useless since beggining of here release and could easily solve that problem?
The rest feels so unnecesarry. With primary they actually exaggerated the biggest problem her weapon had - ramp up time and differences between levels. And the ult… just why?
Soldier and Tracer is literally the same, by your logic, both have gun with spread, a quick movement ability, they can recover health, can burst up targets.
She’s in a pretty good state, you guys just don’t like the design. These posts end up like honey drawing the same ants over and over… I see the same oh 12 to 20 posters all going over the same points. Blizz likes the design, and right now is just judging if the numbers balance. Do not expect another rework.
It’s a completely new hero, they reworked a hero that used to influence the fight with her ult and change the way the game was played as a result… TP behind point on Capture point maps, shield gen to give your team a hp advantage.
No other hero in the game played the way she did, replaced with a mediocre close range dps hero that has no survival capability.
