If it was just up to me, I probably wouldn’t touch stadium after I got my lootbox from the challenges for it, but my friend really liked the galactic weapons since the last season and stadium gives comp points too. Because of that I end up playing stadium and, in turn, getting them comp points. Everything’s fine and dandy, but I’m not as fond of galactic weapons, would rather get some oldie, but goldie, only they’re locked behind “legacy points”.
Now, I know that isn’t new and has been a thing since OW2 launched or so. I’ve read up on that and game says so as well, that the current comp points turn into legacy points at the end of the year and then I may be allowed to get a golden gun (and now jade ones also, it seems). I don’t even actually know if that’s a thing. I’ve got some 1100 of those legacy points and I can’t even click any kind of unlock to get a message of “you need 1900 more”.
Even if that is the case, that is one irritating system. Why? You’re putting up recolors of mythic skins in the shop now, technically giving people more options too, but you limit this? Why can’t it just be comp points for any shiny gun? What’s the point needlessly complicating this? Why can’t it just be 3k comp points for any of those? You’re doing this “multiple currencies” thing again, only it’s not like you can even buy comp/legacy points, so it’s just annoying for the sake of being annoying.
It is because they did not want people like me just buying Dark Matter for all of their heroes day one. Which I could have done EVEN AFTER they stole a ton of them by changing the cap.
I believe you can convert current points into legacy points at a rate of 1:1. You can also use current points to unlock gold/jade weapons. This is me regurgitating though; I haven’t tried either.
Like the person above said, you have wrong information.
You can use the comp points you currently get, for any of the 3 colour skins. Gold, jade, galaxy.
You can use legacy points for gold and jade, just not the current galaxy ones. And presumably, next year when we get a new colour, galaxy will be added for purchase with legacy as well.
If you have say 2000 legacy and 1100 current comp points, you can still buy a gold or jade gun. It will convert 1000 current posts to legacy and buy the skin for you. Leaving you with 100 current comp pts.
You should still be able to purchase golden guns with the regular comp points? I bought golden guns with them just last season. There should be an option which currency you would like to spend for the golden, and you can toggle between legacy or current comp points.
