Hello, I was wondering what the best thing to do in comp for your SR/MMR when you have leavers. I just played 5 games for placements and not kidding 3/5 had leavers on my team. One of them turned into a 3v6 and of course we lost all of them. I have heard rumors that say if you leave even when your whole team has left your mmr is still lowered or something like that and it seems like a guaranteed loss. So when you are in a 3v6 is it better to just leave? I feel like I am just playing a losing game for no reason. Also why aren’t there stricter punishments for leaving? I understand occasional connection issues, but having them that frequently just makes comp unplayable to me. I also know that doesn’t statistically happens that often, but it did to me the other day.
That’s unfortunate, but your placements don’t matter very much in general unless it is your first time doing your placements. After that, it’s usually your last season’s SR + or - up to 100.
I haven’t heard that staying will lower your MMR, but if you are below 3000 SR it will take a hit on your numbers (Damage, Healing, etc.) because you are at a significant disadvantage, and since below 3000 SR it has performance based SR (to some extent), staying in the game could be detrimental to your MMR.
A bug that I believe is fixed on the PTR, and should be live Tuesday, is when you leave a game, even if you’ve waited the 2 minutes, you will get a negative endorsement penalty (knocked me from level 3 to 2).
Because the devs have been giving out slaps in the wrist for leaving since Competitive has been a game mode. We can only continue to voice our dis-satisfaction with the system and hope that the devs listen and make harsher penalties.
Some of these occasional connection issues are on Blizzard’s end though, such as if they get a DDoS attack directed towards their servers, which affects players with top of the line internet. Blizzard would need to make exceptions for times like this, but they could really do a lot more to the much more frequent players who rage quit or have poor connections.
Thanks for the response. I do wish as a community we had better ways to prevent this.
Tell blizzard that when you have a leaver in a game the game is cancelled
I agree, especially when a person leaves right after like the one minute mark or whenever the cutoff is. You can leave and still have to play most of the game with a severely one sided match.
