What the heck is up with the new LAS1 servers?

Before this patch, I remember there used to be 2 datacenter regions for NA: West and Central, composed of LAX1 (Los Angeles) and ORD1 (Chicago). Now I keep connecting to a new server called LAS1 (Nevada?) with an IP range of 64.224.0.0/21. Ever since this change, every time I get put on these awful nodes my ping spikes in the hundreds of ms, games randomly restart for both teams, and a bunch of other random bugs and general craziness.

Why did these servers get provisioned? I’m much closer to Los Angeles than Nevada, and I had to firewall off the IP range just to get playable games again. Plus, they’re buggy and unstable!

If it’s in the hundreds and you’re in the US, then I don’t think that’s a new Las Vegas server. More likely you’re connecting to the Latin America server for some reason. What that reason is and how to fix it? No clue. Might just be a temporary bug.

LAS1 matches up with the Harry Reid International Airport designation, which leads me to believe it is in Nevada. Also, tracing the packet hops from my location to an active game server IP from the netgraph shows a ping of about 40ms all the way to the last hop, where it will fluctuate between 30-260ms. Seems more like they started up new Southern US servers but didn’t provision them correctly?

I was put on LAS1 as well. i swear these servers were rented from someone that is running this game out of the back of someone’s garage. Choppy and absolute garbo.

Weird, but could be. Maybe they anticipated a large influx of players due to the collab or something. Or maybe preparing for the new hero release in season 8 and getting the extra servers up now.

Just came out of an LAS1 deathmatch that was unplayable, hope they get whatever it is fixed.

That’s Las Vegas. They’re putting servers here because its a little more north and centrally located than SoCal region.

Whether they actually fix them or not… remains to be seen.

Well, they officially found a way to make the servers worse; there appears to be a routing loop on one of Blizzard’s backbone networks now, which is causing all sorts of problems. Not sure if they were trying to fix the aforementioned problems and broke stuff further, but this is unfortunate…

Never heard of LAS1 until today. I’m currently playing in LAS1 from Florida ??

I had been trying to connect to the LAX1 for the past few days as it gives me the best ping but I think they are now fully replaced with LAS1.
I believe there are now 2 NA servers; central (ORD1) and southwest (LAS1).

Currently being rerouted to LAS1 server in Florida. Did yall forget to pay the bill for ORD1?

I found this today to figure out what’s going on with my connection. Apparently they still haven’t gotten these in proper order.

As of today they’re still garbage

I was playing LAS1 server in China!???

Let me guess, you all are getting latency pings of 50 instead of 12…

Tough life I know

I have been chasing down this issue for a few weeks now. Here’s my guess:

  1. They are prioritizing Cox connections as they are the most used provider here in Las Vegas.

  2. It would not surprise me if these servers are in SwitchNAP here in Las Vegas. Very good data center.

  3. This is a routing issue, not a server issue.

  4. The best you can do is call your ISP and tell them you are being routed to a server in Las Vegas. Only provide the IP address to the LAS1 server

BTW, I am also having this issue and I am in Las Vegas.

Just ran all my tests again, I think the issue is fixed.
