I have been on the edge of diamond for multiple seasons now and literally every time i come even close to ranking up the enemy team has multiple diamond 3+ and/or a top 500. I am not kidding, how on earth is that fair i am plat1, just trying to scrape to diamond 5, and it straight up refuses to give me a fair match on the rank up. Why man. Why do i keep doing this to myself, this is a pathetic addiction now. Im so tired and done

It is intentional (EOMM) engagement optimized matchmaking. Are you feeling engaged? It is designed to keep you grinding and playing the game more and if you play the game more you get more invested in the game and maybe just maybe it will make you invest more $$ in the game.

Story as old as Overwatch. This is one of the most broken aspects about the game. It’s not in your head, it’s in the algorithm. Even when/if you finally make it to diamond, you’ll win a few matches and after your first loss will go on a loss streak where your teammates are clearly, CLEARLY awful.
Doesn’t even matter, other games are coming along and you can ditch this for one that has a decent matchmaker. Overwatch is done and I am so happy to see it crash and burn. Can’t help but feel bad for the artists, game designers, and all the others who did their part to make the game great, only to have it massively fail because of the matchmaking.

Rank up games are made absurdly difficult. One of the devs said he doesnt play comp because he knows how it works and would only make him mad at his own game.
Just make a new account, stat pad the crap outa quickplay then do comp. Id bet you sky rocket past your main account

It happens because the closer you get to Diamond, the more Diamonds you’re supposed to face. Why would you rank up to Diamond only facing Plats?

Each time you win, the next game should theoretically be fractionally harder. To the point where the scales tip and you are no longer of the skill level. If you want to break that glass ceiling, you need to improve and smash through it.
