What SR would you consider the average OW player to be?

So, let’s do a quick experiment, think about what you personally would expect from an average OW player. In terms of game knowledge, skill, and communication, what would you expect their minimum SR to be?

What SR would you expect from say, Below Average, and Above Average as well?

SR distribution shows a bell curve (normal distribution), so by definition the average people are in the middle of it, which is around gold.

Jeff already stated its a bell curve and the average is gold/plat, thats where most people are.

Gold/plat probably

2500 is around average.

2200-2700 SR

20characters

I’m pretty they announced that it was gold.

This this might be worth putting up - its really not changed supposedly:

Ranks are distribution based. The “average” player is mid Gold (so 2300-2400ish)

Platinum is above average, with the “worst” player in Platinum being in the 61st percentile.

So, overall, I would say “Gold” is average players, with Platinum being above average and Silver being below average.

Show me numbers. I don’t buy this any longer. Blizzard takes no issue with smurfs. I know from personal conversations that higher ranked players get tired of playing against the same group of other players so smurf accounts are created. That in turn skews the average since smurfs are purposefully playing at lower SR levels. SR only reflects a players skill relative to other players who are playing at that SR level. With smurfs purposefully keeping their SR at a lower level, that pushes regular (non-smurfing) players further down.
