What should the time gap between dps heroes be?

There was a 6 hero gap (jq, kiriko, ram, LW, illari, mauga) between Sojourn and the next dps hero, Venture.

In real time the gap was around 1.5 years (Not counting beta versions of sojourn), but if they did a similar gap again without the benefit of faster hero releases near the launch of the game, that would come out to at 2.3 years

On one hand even with the shorter 1.5 year gap it was already starting to feel like way too long since we got something new to play on dps, so I couldn’t imagine a 2.3 year wait. I don’t think it helped that the last 2 dps releases included one of the most boring and one of the most polarizing heroes in the game. On the other, I would like to see the gap in number of heroes per role continue to shrink.

So what do you all think the optimal hero release schedule would be? Personally I think either: dps, tank, support, tank, support, repeat. Or: Dps, tank, support, tank or support (alternating), repeat

Every 2 years or longer.

If you mean release-balance Sojourn then 100 years.

When smoking brisket or pork butt, you let the meat tell you when it’s done.

Every 1.5 years sounds good. Gives us two tanks and two supports for every DPS, which is what we need till the cast is more rounded out.

If this game actually released heroes in a timely manner, I could live with support, support, tank, tank, DPS. I believe support is still behind, so maybe the next cycle would be support, support, tank, support, DPS… But whatever, you get the point.

However, since we do not get regular hero updates despite the fact that they stopped developing content for nearly three years and all we got to compensate was one of each… I feel that we should continue in the trend of getting one of each per year.
