As just about anyone who plays the game knows, Sojourn is by far the best hero in the game with very little competition. She has almost everything a DPS could ever ask for on top of being both accessible and a high skill ceiling.
Within her kit Sojourn possesses
- Mobility (15 M horizontal slide with slimming hitbox, 5 M vertical jump)
- low spread medium DPS primary fire with a medium clip size (headshots available)
- AOE DOT CC that is undestroyable (Only other DPS with similar abilities are Mei and Symmetra, both of which have drawbacks/major counterplay to using these abilities)
- Oneshot
Realistically, I think the major issue with SJ is that her power is too broad. She can do everything and her only major drawback is a lack of direct survivability.
IMO, I think headshots should be removed from her kit entirely. Have her rightclick count as a beam (therefore ignoring DM and Deflect) and buff her LMB DPS by ~20%. With her ability to headshot gone she will be more reliant on whittling targets down with her LMB and then finishing them off with her RMB instead of JUST oneshotting targets. The only hero’s who can instantly one-shot squishies without ults are Hanzo, Widow, and Reinhardt. Specifically Hanzo and Widow have major drawbacks to their oneshots in their lack of consistent damage, CC, and AOE. Along with this, if they aren’t hitting their shots they do basically zero damage while SJ still has her LMB and E to support her if she’s missing her rightclicks.

Honestly, i feel like if they removed railgun headshots entirely, she’d still be good and i love playing her. Idk how that would work in practice, but i like the idea of it on paper.

Her ultimate would need hella hella buffs. I guess the most simple way would be to make it charge fast, similar to Tracer.

Now that I think about it, she has NO weaknesses, not one
Even widow, she’s weak if you get in her face
Other dps have no mobility or no vertical mobility or no aoe
She has it all (except an interesting personality)

Maybe… how much damage does a body shot from the railgun do?
Apparently it does 30 to 130 depending on charge. During her ultimate, that would very likely be at least 100 even if you are spamming it as the charge rate is quite fast.
So perhaps it would just need a duration buff. Or maybe instead of charging it is perpetually at 100%. I am not sure.
Another idea is that it only headshots during the ultimate.

If they removed headshots, increasing the duration by a couple of seconds might not be a bad trade off. A dps ult should have the ability to team wipe. Wouldnt want her not being able to do that, too.

I don’t agree she does don’t need an ult buff if the removed headshots Genji would have 10 extra damage but she would have range so I don’t think he needs a buff personally if they did buff her super Genji should get a 15damage buff to his

Reduce her damage across the board, longer cooldown on dash, ult charge increased by 10%.

Removing the headshots but turning it into a beam weapon would be a fair tradeoff, you could even leave the ult as is. making it a beam weapon would make her ult even stronger in some cases (can’t matrix or deflect it)
it would give her better matchup against some heroes while making her less oppressive to others. and as it is, dva and genji could use some more counters anyway.

Either they should reduce beam’s damage, this should OS 200hp heroes at 100% not 81%, or they sould reduce the amount she can farm per hit, maybe 4% instead of 5%.

Be she should remain unchanged globaly, she’s by far the best added character to this game, Strong, Skilled, not Frustrating to play against. I havent had a single game where someone was complaining about sojourn.
Reduce disrupter damage by a lot, imagine a flashbang that did insane damage and CC’d you and that’s the issue with it.
decrease total Railgun charge and just remove any charge granted from shields, probably only gain charge from shields to remind a dps that they aren’t supposed to ignore the shield.
from there I would wait before any more changes to railgun if more than:
Can’t headshot outside ultimate, ultimate pierces bubbles/barrier with 50% damage reduction
not really she would have a Genjis sword but at range, so she has safety the headshots are just insane she can one tape 4 of the enemy team and then use the rest of the time on the tank she has the highest kill potential with her kit it would not need to be buffed
to be far tho deflecting it back always fees amazing
make her hitbox bigger
remove all of her clutter (i mean her m1 projectiles and when she uses her grav)
make her movement cd longer
Nerfs:
-Remove headshots from railgun
-Charge loss starts after 5 seconds (from 6 seconds)
Buffs:
-Increase railgun damage to 45-135 (from 30-130)
-Ultimate cost decreased to 2000 points (from 2100 points, 5% decrease in cost)
